Uber users can now buy Delhi Metro QR tickets within the app
Uber on Monday (May 19, 2025) partnered with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to launch QR based tickets for Delhi Metro users. Now, Uber users can book their QR based Delhi Metro train ticket within the app by using the UPI payment options. Uber plans to scale this service to three more Metro services in India by 2025. An Uber app user can buy a maximum of 8 QR tickets in one go. They have to enter the entry and exit stations and then make the payment using the UPI. The QR ticket has to scanned at the automatic fare collection gate for entry and exit. The service is already live in Delhi. Uber said that India's Digitial Public Infrastructure (DPI) has helped it scale and also to make for the world. It will allow businesses to request on-demand logistics from Uber's delivery network. Recently, Uber expanded its Courier service by launching the Courier XL where a user can book a parcel up to 750 kgs.

The new service will enable the users to send large goods. The Uber Courier XL service has been presently rolled out in Delhi NCR and Mumbai. The company has revealed that users will be allowed to send lager packages of up to 750 kilograms in Uber XL courier service. Uber has also revealed that it will be using three to four-wheeler vehicles to deliver large shipments. Uber Courier XL is designed forheavier and tech-enabled shipments. According to Uber, the decision to launch Courier XL was driven by the significant growth of its original Courier service, which uses bikes for smaller package deliveries. Uber Courier is currently available in 25 cities and has served over 5 million users. The company reported that deliveries through Courier grew by more than 50% in 2024, with continued growth in the first three months of 2025. Ride-hailing firm Uber on Monday launched Courier XL , a service that expands its logistics product Courier, to enable deliveries of large goods. Courier XL has been rolled out in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, with plans to expand to more cities in the coming months. It allows users to send large packages weighing up to 750 kilograms. The company will use three and four-wheeler vehicles to deliver large shipments. Courier XL will offer a fast and tech-enabled solution for heavier shipments, it said. 'Courier XL is our answer to a growing demand from users — especially small businesses and households — who need a reliable way to move heavier goods across the city. Whether it's inventory, furniture, or large parcels, we're making big moves simpler and smarter,' said Shiva Shailendran, director – consumer and growth, Uber India South Asia. According to the company, the new category has been introduced following the growth of Uber Courier, its bike-based package delivery service. Uber Courier is now available in 25 cities and has served over 5 million users. Uber said deliveries through its Courier service grew by more than 50per centin 2024, with growth continuing to rise in the first three months of 2025. Courier XL will compete with the likes of other new-age on-demand services such as Porter, Borzo, and Mover. Porter, which recently closed a $200 million round led by private equity firms Kedaara Capital and Wellington Management, is the largest in this segment, which primarily caters to MSMEs. New-age logistics company Delhivery also has a small presence in this market. Uber saw its operating revenue in India grow by 41per centin the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024 to touch Rs 3,762 crore, as it managed to reduce its losses on the back of an improvement in its ride-hailing services and growth in its support and service operations.
