Meet 2025 Remarkable Women finalist, Courtney Hampson
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – 'She's truly remarkable and unforgettable!'
That's how Thillah Maybin describes her boss, Courtney Hampson, and why she said she nominated her to become one of our Remarkable Women finalists for 2025.
'She pays attention to the little details, even acknowledging small birthdays, work anniversaries,' Thillah said. 'We know that our humanity is being acknowledged and being honored. Everyone here is so happy because of the culture she has instilled here.'
Courtney Hampson has been the CEO of the Bluffton Self Help for the past three years but has been supporting its mission to improve the lives of its neighbors for much longer, the past 20 years as a volunteer and on its Board of Directors.
'We provide basic needs, like free groceries, clothing and financial assistance. We have education programs offering English as a second language, GED, citizenship, digital literacy, and financial literacy,' Courtney said.
As the leader of this nonprofit, she oversees 350 volunteers and 20 staff members.
'My mentor told me many years ago, that the world is about people,' Courtney said. 'So that is where my focus is. Running an organization like this is a lot of process. But always keeping people at the forefront. It's about people and how we can help.'
'At the end of the day, if you're just focusing on people. I think you're doing it right.'
When Courtney is not busy leading Bluffton Self Help, she's writing a monthly column and teaching at USCB.
