Police find 'Whizzinator' in traffic stop, charge Mitchell man with drug offenses

Mar. 27—MITCHELL — A traffic stop for a revoked license led to the discovery of a "Whizzinator," a device used to fake drug tests, in the vehicle of a Mitchell man who now faces multiple drug charges. On Feb. 26, 2025, a detective saw Courtney Stork, 45, driving in town despite not having a valid license. When another officer attempted to pull him over, Stork ignored the flashing lights and continued driving to a residence on West Fifth. He went inside, refusing to comply with police orders to stop. Minutes later, Stork returned to the door with his mother and was escorted outside, where he became irate. After calming down, he admitted to driving and consented to a search of his vehicle. Inside the center console, officers found a Whizzinator, a device designed to store and dispense synthetic urine. Because Stork is on parole for controlled substances and enrolled in the 24/7 drug testing program, officers were concerned about his possession of the device. He admitted to recent drug use and said he would fail a urinalysis but refused to provide a sample. A subsequent parole search of Stork's bedroom uncovered additional contraband, including a yellow cut-down straw with meth residue in a trash bag, as well as a glass jar containing marijuana and a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in a wooden box. Stork pleaded not guilty Tuesday to possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class 2 misdemeanor; possession of two ounces or less of marijuana, a Class 1 misdemeanor; and possession of methamphetamine, a Class 5 felony. The court approved his request for a bond modification, allowing him to leave the First Circuit Court jurisdiction to attend a relative's funeral, as long as he remains within the state. A jury trial is scheduled for August.
