Beyonce's Cover Of Jolene Gets Dolly Parton's Approval: ‘I Was Very Proud'
Last Updated: Dolly Parton praised Beyonce's unique interpretation of Jolene and felt elated to see a talented artist bring a fresh take to her classic. Beyonce surprised many by covering Dolly Parton's iconic track Jolene in her latest album Cowboy Carter. In true Beyonce style, the singer gave the track a twist with some changes in lyrics and a special introduction that honours the original version. Almost a year after its release, Dolly has praised the Crazy in Love crooner's unique interpretation of Jolene. Dolly Parton also said she was a 'huge fan' of Beyonce. Speaking with People, the 9 to 5 singer said, 'I was just honoured that she, of course, did a completely different take on Jolene than my version of it. Hers was more like, 'Well, you're not getting him, you're not taking him, you're going to go through me to get him.' Mine was more like, 'Please don't take him.' So I loved her interpretation. As a writer, you like to hear how different people interpret your songs and how they put their own spin and do their own take on it. But I was very proud of it and I hope her tour does great, and I'm sure it will. People seem to be loving it." Calling Cowboy Carter a 'really, really good album," Dolly Parton added, 'I'm a huge fan of hers, I mean, who's not? Everybody loves her. I think she's a magnificent artist, beautiful and the dancing in addition to the singing." Dolly Parton has appeared twice in Cowboy Cater. She plays the role of a DJ in the track Dolly P. She has a cameo in another song called Tyrant. As for Beyonce, she is busy performing live for fans on her Cowboy Carter Tour. Beyonce's concert started in April with a big show in Los Angeles. She will headline several concerts in London from June 5 to June 16. After that, she will head to Paris for three shows on June 16, 21 and 22. Once the European leg of her tour is over, the singer will return to the US for more shows. She will perform in cities like Houston, Washington DC and Atlanta. The final concert of the tour is set to take place in Las Vegas on July 26. First Published: June 02, 2025, 18:06 IST

'I'm spending £30,000 to see Beyoncé 15 times on her Cowboy Carter tour'
'I'm spending £30,000 to see Beyoncé 15 times on her Cowboy Carter tour' Taylor Sinclair has been obsessed with the Single Ladies singer since she was a little girl and recently camped overnight at the Principality Stadium in order to bag the best spot at the Beyoncé concert there Taylor Sinclair is spending £30,000 to see Beyoncé (Image: Taylor Sinclair ) There are lots of mega fans in the world who follow their favourite artists across the globe and loyally support every tour, concert, and venture. One of them is Taylor Sinclair, who you may remember from when we spoke to her in 2023 outside the Principality Stadium. Taylor, who is 28, from Belfast and works in finance, will see Beyoncé a whopping 15 times on the current Cowboy Carter tour at an incredible cost of around £30,000. The Cowboy Carter tour kicked off on Monday, April 28, in LA, and Taylor was of course there. She saw Beyoncé in LA three times. Now Beyoncé is coming to the UK, performing in London at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from Thursday, June 5. There are verified resale tickets available on Ticketmaster, here. We caught up with Taylor before her mammoth stint following Beyoncé across the world. Explaining her love for Beyoncé, Taylor said: "It was just something from a very young age. "I remember my family members would have made jokes like kids have their little thing that they just become obsessed with and their family are like, ,oh, she will grow out of it, it's just a wee phase, and I never really grew out of the phase. From such a young age it was always Beyoncé." She also spoke about the insane demand for tickets, which saw Ticketmaster crash for multiple users, and the prices Beyoncé was charging. Taylor said: "This tour was a bit of a nightmare. The London shows weren't too bad but for the US shows specifically it was pretty difficult to get tickets in the general sale. Paris was pretty difficult. "London wasn't too bad because the tickets I was going for, the VIP tickets which were a bit more expensive and I think people were maybe a bit shocked at the general price of the London tickets in general. "Across the board, Ticketmaster wasn't great and some of the sections that I wanted for the US shows sold out pretty quickly." Taylor is a dedicated fan (Image: Taylor Sinclair ) Taylor added: "They are very expensive. I was surprised at the general admission prices, the VIP prices haven't gone up massively since the last tour, Paris was a bit more expensive. "I think the price of everything, concert tickets in general, are getting a lot more expensive. I was a bit shocked the prices had gone up for general admission but for the VIP packages I was going for, there wasn't a massive difference. I don't think I've been to any concert recently and the tickets haven't been around £100 so I think for an artist like Beyonce, I don't think it's that bad. The most expensive ticket Taylor has bought for the Cowboy Cater tour was $2,000, which is about £1,467. In total, with the travelling and the ticket prices, Taylor thinks following the tour will cost her about £30,000. The last time we met Taylor she queued and camped overnight at the Principality Stadium to ensure she had the best spot for the concert. "Last time was a little bit rough, after the first show in Cardiff I remember thinking to myself, never again, I felt so sick the next day but I did do it for a couple more shows in the UK. "If you want to get the spot you want to be at for the show you need to make the sacrifice. I'll be better prepared this time though!" Despite going to a lot of the shows, 15 in total, which include six in London, three in LA, three in Paris, and two in Washington DC, on her own, Taylor will be meeting up with the Beyoncé community. She said: "It is a bit of a community, every show that I am going to there is someone that I know who is going to be there. "I've been going to Beyoncé concerts by myself for about 10 years now, I've met so many people from everywhere so I have been able to link in with them.
