Fun for dad and the whole family

Fathers and traders at our Father's Day CraftFest have their own distinctive style, and plenty of gifts for dad. Jeff Meier from Otter Cat Clothing, Afzal Saib from Wild Rhino SA and Jason Mqokozo from Seamartist Apparel get into the mood for an event that celebrates craft in all its forms, craft food and drink, great music and plenty of crafty buys. It's a fun event for the whole family. Spoil dad for Father's Day tomorrow at CraftFest, a festival that celebrates all things Craft. Held with the Shongweni Farmers and Craft Market at their site in Shongweni it is a fun day out in the country for the whole family. Plus there are plenty of treats for dad. Enjoy a taste sensation with craft beer, spirits and food along with many artisanal crafters showcasing their skills and products. Live local bands feature all day long on Main Stage to ensure your feet don't stop moving. Craft beers include KZN's finest with the Standeaven Brewery, That Brewery known for its Blonde, Red, APA Cows, EL Juicy. Lions Brewery will tempt with beers like German Fest Lager, Bohemian Pilsner, American Pale Ale, Vanilla Porter, Best English Bitter and even a Shandy. Terry Bright Ideas will feature Guinness. Distillers feature The Gin Co along with its range of premixed GnTs and the Lions Brewery Gin/Vodka. Apperol and Campari cocktails and twists will feature along with Salito's Bar in the VIP section. The Roll Bar has a range of cocktails ready to roll, Pretty Drinks are known for their vibrant and colourful cocktail creations and there's an exciting new activation called Nawty Water. Wines include Vrede en Lust and Doos. There are food options to suit all tastes from Italian gelato to good old boerie rolls. Look out for gourmet burgers and hot dogs from Filthy Mustache, vegan falafel wraps from Valeo, and deli style snack platter with olives, cheeses and cured meats from Beckz Smoked Meats. There's Chinese food, and Thai pot stickers from Yomani, and the creative offerings of Food Revolution and Fish Revolution. Peck-eish offers gourmet snacks and meals while the Maddison Bakery a range of croissants, pizzas and more. For dessert look no further than the Brownie Bar with offerings that include peppermint crisp and creme brulee, or try the caramelised cashews from Bavarian Nut Works. There are two artisanal coffee stands and another offering bubble teas. Top local musicians include Matt Clement, Jasper Dan, the Phillip Taylor Band and the Golden Super Hawks. Kids can have a fun day in the Kid's Zone, which is free. There's the Shongweni Snake Park, Groovyland, paintball, quad bikes, a zipline, bubble house, bungee jump, face painting and the Shongweni Express. Proceeds from CraftFest include the donation of 600 meals to Scars are a Blessing Foundation - an organization in Umlazi that feeds 60 children and 40 adults. "Supporting our festival will not only be feeding a hungry Dad on Father's Day but also helping hungry families," says organiser Christine Standeaven of the market. Tickets from CraftFest are available from Quicket. Adults R100, Children R50. This year to keep costs down we have reduced ticket prices, but they don't include our definitive CraftFest Bubble glass. These can be bought at the festival.
