Craven County Board of Education appoints Interim Superintendent
NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — During a board meeting held on April 17, the Craven County Board of Education approved the appointment of Richard L. Stout, Jr., as the district's Interim Superintendent, effective May 1, 2025.
Stout brings over 32 years of educational leadership experience, having served in various capacities across seven school districts. His notable roles include Superintendent of Onslow County Schools (2013–2018) and Scotland County Schools (2009–2013). In 2016, he was honored as Regional Superintendent of the Year and previously served as President of the North Carolina Association of School Administrators (2005–2006).
Stout will serve as Interim Superintendent while the Board of Education conducts a comprehensive search for a permanent superintendent.
