Aaron Craver's controversial kick return TD is the Saints Play of the Day

Aaron Craver's controversial kick return TD is the Saints Play of the Day Craver redeemed himself for an early fumble against the Vikings There are 100 days standing between us and the start of the New Orleans Saints' 2025 regular season, which makes this 100-yard kick return touchdown by Aaron Craver our pick for the Saints Play of the Day. Drafted as a running back, Craver did most of his damage in the NFL as a receiver, but the most memorable moment of his career came on a surprise score against the Minnesota Vikings back in 1998. Craver appeared to be hit by Vikings linebacker Pete Bercich before slipping and falling to the turf, and the players around him came to a stop, thinking the play was dead. But Craver noticed there was no whistle from the officiating crew, so he climbed back to his feet and ran through the confused Minnesota coverage unit, crossing the field for a score. The Vikings challenged the ruling but were unable to overturn the play. It was a good way to make up for an earlier fumble on special teams that led to points for the opposing team. You can see it all here. The Saints needed all the lucky breaks they could get against one of the best teams in the NFL. They kept it close late into the fourth quarter, until Minnesota's pass rush brought Billy Joe Tolliver down on three consecutive plays to close it out. New Orleans fell to 4-5, while the Vikings improved to 8-1, well on their way to an incredible season that ended with brutal heartbreak in a season-ending overtime loss to the Atlanta Falcons. As for Craver? He returned to New Orleans for the 1999 season but only fielded one more kickoff, gaining just 3 yards on the try. He called it a career after appearing in 103 regular season games with the Saints, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, and San Diego Chargers, plus five playoff games between his time with Miami and Denver. He did well for himself as a third-round pick and went down as one of the 12 players out of 28 drafted in Round 3 who went on to play at least 100 games in the NFL. That he managed to sustain his career and try his hand at so many different things is commendable, and he won his place in Saints history with this touchdown against the Vikings.

Texas A&M sophomore transfer WR could be headed toward a breakout 2025 season

Texas A&M sophomore transfer WR could be headed toward a breakout 2025 season Texas A&M's spring football season is off to a solid start, but that's only based on a handful of practices over the last two weeks, so there's still plenty to pick through regarding any real progress before the Maroon & White spring game. However, this offseason's wide receiver additions from the transfer portal should have an immediate impact in 2025. Former NC State wide receiver KC Concepcion has received the most attention due to his elite athleticism, speed, and versatility, but for those who were paying close attention to head coach Mike Elko's comments regarding former Mississippi State Mario Craver, who transferred to Texas A&M back in December, he may end up being the reliable deep threat the program has been searching for. 'If you ask any of our corners, he was the toughest cover that we had last year,' Texas A&M defeated Mississippi State 34-24 last season, but Craver's five receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown didn't tell the whole story. Craver constantly found space against Texas A&M's secondary, which includes star senior CB Will Lee III. He's already gained respect from most corners who faced him in SEC play, including his 75-yard performance against Georgia. Craver finished the 2024 season with 17 receptions, 368 yards, and three touchdowns, showing his explosive ability to gain chunk yards, something Elko and OC Collin Klein desperately need. Texas A&M WR arrested over the weekend during a traffic stop

It's being reported that former Mississippi State and current Texas A&M wide receiver Mario Craver was arrested on Sunday and booked in to the Brazos County jail. Tony Catalina of the Austin American-Statesman confirmed via jail records that Craver was arrested over the weekend during a traffic stop. A search of the car resulted in the police finding a few vape pens, with one allegedly in Craver's possession, containing THC. He was released on bond, and a Texas A&M football spokesperson gave the following statement to The Statesman. "Texas A&M athletics is aware of the situation and will handle it accordingly." The sophomore WR was part of a top-ten transfer class brought in by Mike Elko and crew to make the offense more dynamic next season. He finished his freshman year with 17 catches for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Texas A&M football: Aggies WR Mario Craver arrested Sunday, online records show

COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M football wide receiver Mario Craver was arrested this weekend in College Station. According to online Brazos County jail records, Craver was detained and booked by Texas A&M police Sunday for possession of a penalty group 2 controlled substance between 1 to 4 grams. That charge is a third-degree felony in Texas, punishable up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Craver, 19, was released Sunday after an $8,000 surety bond was posted, online records show. A voice message left Sunday night with university assistant police chief Bobby Richardson was not immediately returned. The Brazos County Sheriff's Department nor the county jail could be reached by phone late Sunday. The Statesman reached out to a Texas A&M football spokesperson but did not immediately receive a response. Penalty group 2 substances are not deemed as serious as penalty group 1 substances (fentanyl, heroin and other opioids), according to the Fort Worth-based Law Offices of David Sloane website. Group 2 can include certain forms of THC, psilocybin ('"psychedelic mushrooms") or Adderall variants, among substances. It's unclear what Craver is alleged to have been in possession of. Craver was added to the Aggies program this offseason as a highly touted addition from the transfer portal following a season with Mississippi State. The young wideout was a four-star recruit in the 2024 class, according to 247 Sports, and finished his first season in college with 17 receptions for 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns with the Bulldogs. More information will be added as it becomes available. Reach Texas A&M Beat Reporter Tony Catalina via email at ACatalina@ Follow the American-Statesman on Facebook and X for more.
