Crawfish prices drop in Louisiana just in time for Mardi Gras weekend
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The average price for live and boiled crawfish in Louisiana continues to go down for the fourth week ahead of Mardi Gras weekend.
According to The Crawfish App, the average price is $3.75 per pound for live crawfish and $6.19 per pound for boiled crawfish.
'Sacks of crawfish are now easy to find for under $4 per pound, and in some areas of Louisiana and East Texas, they're priced below $3 per pound,' Co-Founder and Operator of the The Crawfish App Laney King said.
King is hopeful that prices will continue to drop in the coming weeks.
'Crawfish prices are trending downward thanks to a plentiful supply of crawfish that are responding to the mild temperatures we've had in South Louisiana,' King said. 'We expect prices to continue to drop as the heart of the season approaches in March and April.'
