A man has stormed the stage while Katy Perry was performing in Sydney on Monday night, shocking the singer and prompting a swift response from security guards. The US pop star was singing one of her biggest hits during her second show at Qudos Bank Arena when a fan managed to bypass security and storm the stage. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Fan storms stage at Katy Perry concert Perry was performing Hot N Cold with a guitar in hand when the concertgoer came up behind her and put his arm around the singer. She looked visibly confused but handled it professionally, walking away while security rushed the stage. Perry quickly addressed the incident saying: 'Well, there's never gonna be another show like this so just enjoy it, Sydney.' Video shows multiple security guards surrounding the man and carrying him away. It's not the first time the concertgoer, whose name is Johnson Wen, has been in the spotlight for his antics. Wen, who posts his stunts on TikTok, has a history of being a public nuisance and has disrupted the concerts of some of the world's biggest acts. Just last year the 24-year-old managed to jump on stage and hug The Weeknd during one of his concerts in Melbourne at Marvel Stadium. He was also fined $220 for a pitch invasion at a rugby game in January 2021, and $250 in November 2020 for dangling from a Brisbane footbridge. Speaking to 7NEWS just after the incident at The Weeknd concert, Wen said he did not get scared during his stunts but rather felt a sense of 'euphoria'. 'I was extremely happy and as soon as I got to The Weeknd I knew that my plan worked.' Wen jumped on stage and hugged The Weeknd during one of his Melbourne concerts last year. Credit: TikTok Wen posted several TikTok videos of himself running onstage during Perry's concert, captioning one video: 'Me running up to Katy Perry on stage. Katy Perry your songs are my childhood memory since 2008.' The videos have so far garnered mostly disapproving comments. 'You suck for this,' one person said. 'Why is he not banned for future concerts,' said another. Streakers can be fined up to $5000 in Australia or face a ban from the venue or sports game. Perry is performing another show in Sydney on Tuesday night as part of her Lifetimes tour before jetting off to Melbourne where she will perform three shows.

Gary Stead steps down as New Zealand white-ball coach after Pakistan series
Listen to article Gary Stead has officially stepped down as New Zealand's white-ball coach, confirming he will not continue in the role for ODIs and T20Is. Stead's departure from white-ball coaching duties ends a successful era that saw the Black Caps consistently reach the final stages of major ICC tournaments. Stead, who has held the position since 2018, will decide in the coming weeks whether he will reapply for the Test coaching role. Stead led New Zealand to several high points, including the World Test Championship title in 2021 and a historic 3-0 series sweep of India on the subcontinent in 2024. Under his leadership in the limited-overs formats, New Zealand reached the 2019 Cricket World Cup Final, the 2021 T20 World Cup Final, and most recently, the 2025 Champions Trophy Final. 'I'm looking forward to getting away from touring life for a while and having a think about my future,' Stead said. 'The past six to seven months have been particularly busy with relatively non-stop cricket action since September.' He added that while he is stepping away from white-ball duties, he is still open to coaching, just not across all formats. New Zealand Cricket's Chief High Performance Officer Bryan Stronach expressed support for Stead's decision to reflect before making a final call on the Test role. 'Gary's results have been very impressive over a long period and we're very comfortable giving him some time to collect his thoughts and mull things over,' Stronach said. Stronach confirmed that the board has yet to decide whether it will split coaching responsibilities or hire a single head coach for all formats. Recruitment for the coaching roles will begin this week. Stead's current contract, renewed in 2023, is set to expire in June. His departure comes as the Black Caps aim to lift the Champions Trophy for the first time, having reached the final in Pakistan and the UAE.

Changes in New Zealand setup as head coach Gary Stead steps down from white-ball formats
Auckland: New Zealand men's head coach Gary Stead has officially announced his decision to step down from his role in the white-ball formats, as per the official website of ICC. Stead will also decide in the next few weeks if he wishes to reapply for the Test role. First appointed to the position in 2018 following the resignation of Mike Hesson, Stead is considered one of New Zealand's greatest coaches, having steered the men's team to the innaugural World Test Championship title in 2021, and to an unprecedented 3-0 Test series sweep of India on the sub-continent last year. In the white-ball formats, the side reached the final of the recently-concluded Champions Trophy in Pakistan and UAE, a Cricket World Cup Final in 2019, and a T20 World Cup Final in 2021. Formally signalling his intention to step down from ODI and T20I role, Stead stated his intention of spending more time at home. "I'm looking forward to getting away from touring life for a while and having a think about my future," said Stead, as quoted from the official website of ICC. "My focus has been on finishing the season strongly with a lesser experienced team," he added. "The past six to seven months has been particularly busy with relatively non-stop cricket action since September," he said. "I now want to evaluate my options but still feel I have coaching left in me, albeit not as head coach across all formats," Stead said. "The next month will give me the opportunity to discuss the situation more with my wife, family and others," he noted. "I'll be in a better position to know whether I want to reapply for the Test coaching position after this time of reflection," he added. Stead has twice had his contract renewed, in 2020 and in 2023, with the latter term expiring in June this year. New Zealand Cricket Chief High Performance Officer Bryan Stronach said Stead deserved the opportunity to take some time out over his decision. "Gary's results have been very impressive over a long period and we're very comfortable giving him some time to collect his thoughts and mull things over," said Stronach, as quoted from the official website of ICC. "At the moment we haven't any strong preference for either a split-coaching role or a sole appointment who covers all three formats, and we're unlikely to be clearer on that until we see who's putting their name forward," he added.
