An El Paso police officer has been transported to University Medical Center of El Paso in unknown condition following an officer-involved shooting in the Upper Valley. El Paso teen killed in shooting after meeting someone in vehicle in far East Side
An El Paso man met with someone in a vehicle before he was killed in a shooting in a far East Side neighborhood over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, police said. A homicide investigation continues into the death of Angel Salazar, 19, who was fatally shot on late Friday night, May 23, in the Montwood Heights area, El Paso police spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros said in a news release. No arrests had been announced as of Tuesday morning, May 27, as an investigation continued by the Crimes Against Persons Unit. Further details on the shooting have not been released. Salazar was transported to a hospital, where he died. Flora Alba Drive and Dana Michelle Street intersect in the Montwood Heights neighborhood off Montwood Drive, east of Loop 375. "The preliminary information revealed that the victim met with an unidentified person(s) in a vehicle for unknown reasons. A short time later, gunfire was reported in the area," a police news release stated. "There are no words to describe the pain and sorrow our family is going through," stated a GoFundMe page by Salazar's family for help with funeral expenses. El Paso police investigate fatal crash, Dyer Street shooting
A deadly traffic crash, a shooting and a stabbing were keeping El Paso police busy over the weekend. One person died in a single-vehicle collision that occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday, June 1, in the area of Loop 375 and Spur 601, Sgt. Robert Gomez, a police spokesman, said in a message. The crash in under investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit. Further details, including the name of the person who died, had yet to be disclosed. A two-block long crime scene had Dyer Street closed as police investigated an overnight shooting near bars in the Lower Dyer section of Central El Paso. The shooting occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 4800 block of Dyer Street, a block that includes Big Mike's Place, Chit Chat bar and Luckyz Bar & Lounge, a police spokesperson said in a message. One person was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso in undisclosed condition.
