Police have swarmed to the fountain at the Belaggio hotel on the Las Vegas strip following a shooting that has killed two people. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police (LVMPD) has confirmed officers rushed to the scene of a shooting on the city's world-famous strip, and have called on people to avoid the area. In a statement this morning, a representative for the service said: "We are responding to a shooting in the 3600 block of S. Las Vegas Boulevard. The shooting did not occur inside a casino. Police have issued an appeal for the public to aid in the shooting investigation, with Undersheriff Walsh saying that information about the case is "circulating on social media". He said: "We know that there is a lot of information that is circulating on social media and on a variety of platforms that are out there. What we're asking the public to do is continue to share those tips, but most importantly, please call the Crimestoppers Nevada Hotline at 702-385-5555." Undersheriff Walsh has explained that police have now launched a manhunt for the suspect involved in the shooting. He said: "At this point, every effort is being made by members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to locate, apprehend and arrest the suspect who is responsible for this crime." Continuing his briefing, Undersheriff Walsh added that police believe the suspect and victim were known to each other, and that the shooting was an "isolated incident". He said: "At this point, we believe we have the suspect identified and that this is an isolated incident, knowing that the suspect and the victim had previously engaged in some type of conflict using a variety of social media platforms." Two people have died following the shooting, police confirmed. Undersherriff Walsh said during today's press conference that police "immediately ran towards the gunfire" when they received the call to the scene this morning, and arrived to find two victims. He said: "Officers immediately ran towards the gunfire, and they found two victims who were lying on the sidewalk suffering from apparent gunshot wounds." Another distressing video from the scene - which the Mirror will again not be showing - shows what appears to be a lifeless body on the Las Vegas strip following the nighttime shooting. The hotel is also a casino that is usually packed with people at all times of day. The Las Vegas incident took place late at night on Sunday, after 11pm (around 7am GMT) outside the hotel, which locals have said is very popular at night, especially wih street performers. One social media user said: "A lot of street performers hang out here, it's a very populated area at night." One person at the scene in Las Vegas has said they were told "something major" had happened after quizzing security.
