North Carolina woman arrested in drug investigation in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff's Office deputy conducted a traffic stop at 4090 Virginia Avenue after seeing a car with possible fabricated tags with four individuals inside. During the investigation, the deputy realized the driver's and passengers' statements were not aligning. The deputy then searched with the Martinsville Police Department and their K-9 unit. The K-9 then alerted to the smell of narcotics, therefore leading the deputies to search the vehicle. During the search, a handgun and suspected pre-packaged bags of methamphetamine were found with five varieties of pressed pills, various colored powder substances, and various other items consistent with the distribution of narcotics were located. (Photo Credit: Henry County Sheriff's Office) Once the situation was further investigated, it was determined that the items belonged to 26-year-old Terri Lynn Warren of Caswell, North Carolina. Possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule I/II Substance in violation of Virginia Code Section§ 18.2-248 Possession of a Firearm while in possession of a Schedule I/II Substance in violation of Virginia Code Section 18.2-308.4 Possession of a Concealed Weapon in violation of Virginia Code Section § 18.2-308 She is currently being held at the Henry County Detention Center without bond. Man charged with animal cruelty, biting deputy in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff said that a man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly resisting arrest and biting a deputy on May 16. According to the sheriff, the Animal Services Division was notified of animal cruelty allegedly occurring at a residence at Kimway Drive in Axton on Friday. A preliminary investigation revealed the resident of the home, identified as 26-year-old Luis Antonio Bacerra-Eames, had allegedly been physically 'beating' his two dogs using a baseball bat and punching them. It is also alleged that Bacerra-Eames used a large rock to hit one of the dogs, the sheriff said. Woman charged with narcotics possession in Henry County Upon arriving at the home, deputies said they briefly spoke with Bacerra-Eames before he allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to flee. The sheriff said that an altercation then occurred, during which Bacerra-Eames allegedly bit a deputy twice and hit another multiple times with his elbow. Bacerra-Eames was then taken into custody and taken to SOVAH Health Martinsville for treatment of minor injuries. He has been charged with the following: Two counts of Animal Cruelty (Felony) Two counts of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (Felony) Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor) Bacerra-Eames is currently being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond. The sheriff said the two dogs, which are a Pitbull mixed breed, will be taken to a veterinarian for evaluation and will be housed at the Henry County Animal Shelter. The investigation is ongoing. According to the sheriff, multiple law enforcement units served a search warrant at the Travel Inn at Greensboro Road in Ridgeway on Friday. During the search, what is believed to be methamphetamine and heroin were allegedly seized. 24-year-old Danielle Renee Chappel has been arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond. K-9 Unit apprehends wanted man after chase in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff said a man wanted on multiple felony charges was apprehended by a K9 and handler after being caught during a casual encounter on April 9. According to the sheriff, deputies made contact with a suspicious vehicle near Blackberry Road and Stones Dairy Road during a 'consensual encounter' around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The deputy identified the driver as 29-year-old Christopher Roger Riggs of Bassett and determined he was wanted on an active felony warrant for failing to appear in court on charges related to possession of a firearm by a violent felon. Roanoke Police arrest man in child pornography case Riggs then allegedly resisted arrest and fled from deputies on foot; however, K9 Zajo and his handler were on the scene. The chase only lasted a short distance before Riggs was taken into custody. Christopher Roger Riggs has been arrested and charged with the following: Fail to Appear in Court for Felony Offense. HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff said a man has been charged after a traffic stop when a K-9 was allegedly alerted to the presence of drugs on April 7. According to the sheriff, a deputy with the Drug Interdiction Unit pulled over a 2007 Jeep Cherokee on Monday for an alleged traffic violation. While stopped, a search was conducted by a K-9, during which allegedly became alerted to the presence of narcotics. The driver, who has been identified as Charles Junior McMillian, was allegedly found to be in possession of the following items, which were then seized: Over two ounces of suspected methamphetamine Suspected heroin Digital scales Approximately $1,616.00 in U.S. currency A 9mm handgun 2007 Jeep Cherokee Man pleads not guilty to first-degree murder in Crystal Springs McMillian has been arrested and charged with the following: Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I or II Controlled Substances (suspected methamphetamine) Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I or II Controlled Substances (suspected heroin) Possess a Schedule I or II drug while possessing a firearm Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Violent Felon Driving While Revoked McMillian is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
