Chippy launches Scotland's first ever 'chippy breakfast'

Cromars in St Andrews described it as "the ultimate morning-after remedy - or just an outrageously satisfying way to kick off the day". The chippy, located on the town's Union St, is serving up the Pure Filthy Breakfast menu from 9am to 11.30am daily. Those who can't face leaving the house can also get it delivered via Deliveroo. READ MORE: Cromars is also serving classic breakfast rolls - bacon, sausage or veggie – or for those who're looking for something lighter, there's the new 'Boost Your Breakfast Box', which includes a Greek yoghurt with chocolate granola and a Monster Mango Loco yoghurt shake. Wendy Napthine-Frame, owner of Cromars, said: 'We've built our reputation on serving great-tasting food with a side of fun and banter. "At Cromars, we don't take ourselves too seriously – but we do take our food seriously. Fresh fish, top-quality ingredients and flavour-packed dishes are what we're known for. Our new 'Pure Filth Breakfast' is no exception – it's big, bold and gloriously indulgent. "A proper St Andrews chippy breakfast for locals, students, workers and visitors to St Andrews, really anyone who knows that sometimes only something outrageously filthy will hit the spot.'

Scotland's 'best fish and chip' shop where you can enjoy fish supper on beach

The chippy has been called "one of the best". Scotland has again been enjoying warm temperatures and sunny skies in recent days. The good weather won't stick around for long, though, so make the most of it. When the sun is shining, there is nothing quite like a trip to the seaside. And you can make this even better by enjoying a classic fish supper by the beach. ‌ Luckily, you can do both of these things if you head to St Andrews in Fife. The charming seaside town is known as the Home of Golf, but it is also home to a chippy that describes itself as "the best in Scotland". ‌ Cromars is situated on St Andrews' Union Street, just a short walk from the town's various beaches. Founded in 2013, it has been offering up mouth-watering fish suppers to locals and tourists alike in the years since. The fish served up at the eatery is handpicked in Peterhead in Aberdeenshire. Meanwhile, its chips are 100 per cent hand-cut and its tartare sauce is "homemade with a secret recipe". Visitors can eat their food at the takeaway's outdoor seating area, located underneath a canopy and with heaters to keep you warm. However, when the sun is shining, the best thing to do is get your food to go and enjoy it on a nearby beach—with breathtaking views out across the water. As part of its menu, Cromars serves up battered haddock with or without chips. Other options include Scottish scampi, calamari, smoked mozzarella fishcakes, and king prawns. Meanwhile, it is not just fresh fish that the restaurant serves up. Also on offer are smoked sausage, half-battered pizza, king rib, and more. ‌ Cromars has vegetarian options available for those who do not eat meat or fish too. These include homemade macaroni, veggie sausage, and loaded chips. Customers can also enjoy a variety of sweet treats at Cromars, including deep-fried Mars bars, caramel-filled churros, and ice cream tubs. Additionally, milkshakes made with soft-serve ice cream and topped with whipped cream can be ordered too. ‌ On Google, Cromars has received mostly very positive feedback from customers. It has an overall rating of four out of five based on 1,404 reviews. One recent visitor posted: "One of the best fish and chips, they use rapeseed oil for cooking fish. All the orders are cooked fresh. Good service and also good location." ‌ A second posted: "Amazing experience! "The service was outstanding; the staff at the front were lovely, great vibes and made us aware of the beer deal. The decor is trendy and the restaurant was all clean. "The food itself is lush. Fresh, didn't taste oily, the tartar was delicious and a nice beer choice. It's a wee bit expensive but totally worth it and I'd go again without a second thought." Another shared: "Very crispy and fresh fish 'n' chips. The shop has a homely vibe and the service was quick and efficient."
