Johnstown Faith-Based Efforts to Revitalize Community Featured on ‘The 700 Club'
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — A box of doughnuts helped put Johnstown in the national spotlight.
According to our media partners at The Tribune-Democrat, Pastor Josh Knipple of Crucified Ministries has long prayed for his hometown to be known for something other than poverty and drug rates. His answer came this month when The 700 Club, a long-running Christian Broadcasting Network program, sent a crew to film the city's faith-driven revitalization efforts.
The feature highlights how churches across Christian denominations are working together to strengthen the community. One of those efforts is Knipple's ministry at Laurel Mountain Ski Resort, where he serves breakfast and shares faith with snow sports enthusiasts, a mission that initially caught the attention of The 700 Club.
'I prayed there'd be a day our city would one day be highlighted for the work happening here,' Knipple said. 'I never imagined my prayer would be answered like this through a doughnut.'
The two-day feature showcases how local churches have joined forces to provide outreach, support and hope to residents. The segment is expected to air soon on The 700 Club's national broadcast.
