Tensions in the Beckham family have grown so bitter that youngest son Cruz is going out of his way to avoid estranged brother Brooklyn, The Mail on Sunday can reveal. The 20-year-old musician has taken to contacting the family's favourite hangouts ahead of any visits to confirm that he won't cross paths with his sibling. He is said to have sent messages to the owners of their haunts specifically asking questions such as, 'Is Brooklyn there?', to make sure the coast was clear. And he even follows that up with a request to 'let him know' if his brother later turned up, sources say. Brooklyn, 26, does not even live in London, having set up home in Los Angeles with his heiress wife Nicola Peltz, who has been blamed for the rift in the once tight-knit family. But relations have deteriorated so much that he no longer tells parents David and Victoria when he's in town. Earlier this month the couple jetted to the UK for a photoshoot with Italian luxury fashion brand Moncler. But while the location was just two miles from the family's home in west London, they kept the visit secret – even from younger sister, Harper, 13, who used to pose for pictures with Nicola on social media. The Beckhams are said to have learned of Brooklyn's visit only when they spotted an Instagram post that Nicola made about the job. News that Cruz is making moves to avoid inadvertently bumping into his brother are the latest indication of the deep rift within the Beckham family. Rumours were further fuelled when Cruz appeared to reference the drama in a cryptic post on Instagram last week. He wrote: 'It takes 43 muscles in your face to frown, and 17 to smile. Be kind and tell the truth.' It is unclear what 'truth' he is referring to, but many saw it as a veiled reference to Brooklyn. The post was later deleted. It has been many months since the family spent time together, with the feud becoming public knowledge when Brooklyn failed to attend any of his father's 50th birthday celebrations a month ago. Brooklyn appeared to nail his loyalties to the mast when he posted an image on Instagram of himself and Nicola riding a motorbike, writing: 'My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you're the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby.' The Beckhams have largely remained silent in public about the rift, but they are said to fear that Brooklyn is falling increasingly under the control of Nicola, the daughter of American billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz. As a source told the Mail last week: 'Brooklyn is now being referred to as "the hostage". 'Those who love him fear that he is being controlled by Nicola, and it is heartbreaking.' Tensions allegedly began in the lead-up to Brooklyn and Nicola's £3 million wedding in April 2022, with Nicola was said to have declined an offer to wear a dress designed by Victoria Beckham.

Brooklyn denied the rumoured rift in a Variety interview, claiming 'everyone gets along, which is good.' Peltz, similarly, insisted there was 'not a feud' that same year while pointing out that 'no family is perfect.' The young couple has not been pictured with Brooklyn's parents or siblings since Christmas. 'In some ways, this is no surprise, but I guess no one could believe they would actually snub David's 50th when there were so many events they could have gone to, or ways to spend time with the family … their behaviour has been appalling,' the source said. Brooklyn failed to turn up for any of his father's festivities, which culminated in a star-studded party in London on Saturday night with guests including Tom Cruise. 'David and Victoria always turn up for Brooklyn and Nicola,' the source told Page Six, 'Whether it's for the launch of his hot sauce brand or her movie premiere. This is just very sad.' 'Brooklyn's family adores him and will always be there for him. They just can't deal with this nonsense anymore,' the source said. 'David and Victoria just want Brooklyn to remember who he is because this behaviour isn't him and isn't how he was raised.'

Earlier this week, there was further proof of the irreparable nature of the rift when Brooklyn and Nicola jetted to the capital from their home in Los Angeles on Monday for a joint photoshoot with Italian luxury fashion brand Moncler. It took place less than two miles away from the Beckham family home in Holland Park, west London. Brooklyn didn't even tell David and Victoria they were in the country - let alone meet with them. But Brooklyn appeared to have made a tentative sign of peace with his parents David and Victoria. He has not severed all ties with his parents as he still proudly claims the familial link to his hot sauce brand Cloud23. Brooklyn launched the brand in September last year and revealed the '23' in the name was a nod to David's famous No. 23 jersey which he wore while playing for Real Madrid and again for LA Galaxy. When a customer wrote in asking for more information about the brand, Brooklyn's team replied proudly restating how it honours his father. They said: 'The 23 included in our brand is a warm nod to Brooklyn's father, David Beckham, who wore number 23 while playing for Real Madrid and LA Galaxy, inspired by NBA legend Michael Jordan.' The reference to David being a 'warm nod' is significant given the current strained relationship between father and son. However, there is currently no mention of David anywhere on the Cloud23 website. The 'Cloud' part of the name reflects the brand's tagline, 'Flavour beyond the clouds,' emphasising an elevated, luxurious culinary experience. David isn't the only reference in the Cloud23 name however, as Brooklyn also noted the 23 refers to the date he proposed to Nicola - 23rd of June 2020. In an interview with InStyle last year while he was promoting the brand, Brooklyn spoke about his then-great relationship with David and Victoria. 'I had a crazy childhood, man. I was so happy,' he fondly recalled. 'It was hectic because my dad played football and my mum was a Spice Girl. Spice Girls was the first few years of my life, so it was hectic. We were always doing something. But, I have the best mum and dad in the world and it was a lot of fun.' While growing up in the spotlight can be difficult, Brooklyn insisted he 'wouldn't change a thing' about his upbringing. 'Everyone's always like, 'How is it like to have famous parents?'
