Cudahy woman missing, last seen in Chicago on Monday
The Brief The Cudahy police requested the public's help to find missing Merdis Holmes. Holmes was last seen in Chicago on Monday, where she went to visit family. Police said Holmes has dementia and Crohn's disease. CUDAHY, Wis. - The Cudahy Police Department requested the public's help to find missing 69-year-old woman Merdis Holmes. She was last seen in Chicago on Monday. Police described Holmes as 5-foot-2 and 104 pounds with brown eyes and short, curly, gray hair. She was last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket and long black shirt. She has dementia and Crohn's disease. She was dropped off there near 64th and Yale around 7:40 p.m. on Monday and has not been heard from since. She does not have her phone. 12-year-old student arrested after handgun found at Wisconsin school
CUDAHY, Wis. (WFRV) — A 12-year-old student at a Wisconsin elementary school was arrested after allegedly being found in possession of a handgun. According to the Cudahy Police Department, the student at Lincoln Elementary School on South Packard Avenue was taken into custody after school administration and the School Resource Officer conducted an investigation that led to the discovery of the firearm. Mexican citizen sentenced to prison for illegally reentering U.S., found in Wisconsin Police say there is no threat to the school or the public. The investigation is ongoing. Police Department in Wisconsin mourns loss of retired K-9 born in Germany, aided in high risk searches
CUDAHY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Cudahy Police Department is in mourning after the loss of beloved retiree police K-9 Rex, who passed away on Sunday, February 9 at the age of 12. Born in Germany on June 21, 2013, the German Shepherd spent time training and earning his certification before coming to America as a police K-9 with multiple areas of expertise including the following: Narcotics detection Building searches Tracking Criminal apprehensions Officer protection Manitowoc Police K9 born in Slovakia retires after eight years, helped seize over $78,000 and 7.5 pounds of illegal drugs Rex was also trained in obedience and could run eight miles in a specific time frame for certification. His birth name in Germany was 'Monster vom Lisdorferland,' but changed when he came to the United States in February 2015. The name Rex came from the grandmother of his handler, Corporal Holly Bhirdo, who chose the name. 'Rex was a valuable asset and partner to not only Cpl. Bhirdo but to all of the men & women of the Cudahy Police Department,' the post said. 'Rex and Cpl. Bhirdo also assisted the Milwaukee FBI in several operations while both served the community on active duty.' Bhirdo worked with the South Shore Joint Tactical Unit, assisting in multiple high-risk search warrants and tactical operations in the county. When Cpl. Schmitt is described as a female, white, 5'2" tall, weighing 180 pounds, with blue eyes and blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a beanie, hoodie, sweatpants, and black Ray Bans. She has a large tattoo on her left forearm.
