Bills QB Josh Allen 'very excited' about this new teammate
The Buffalo Bills have steadily been tinkering with short-term free agent deals at receiver in recent seasons to see if anyone sticks. That began to change a bit last offseason when the Bills signed Curtis Samuel to a three-year pact. Advertisement While the team has continued to add some talent and depth to the position this offseason, they also added another pass-catcher on a several year agreement. Former Charger Josh Palmer put pen to paper on a multi-year agreement with the club. After four years of playing with Los Angeles, and with experience as a passing game target for Justin Herbert playing behind receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Palmer will have a chance to bring his contributions to Buffalo. The Bills' newest target for QB Josh Allen totaled a minimum of 500 yards receiving in his last three years in L.A. That output matches and fits well with offensive coordinator Joe Brady's efficiency-based, even distribution of the football, in which targets are expected to make the most of their opportunities in a quality-over-quantity approach. Advertisement 'Very excited,' Allen said of his new teammate on offense. 'Excited to get to throw with him here pretty soon, very fluid in his routes, he creates a lot of separation, and there's a lot of advanced stats that show that. Seems like a great guy, he's a Toronto kid too, so I know that he's got a big following here, and for him to be closer to family, I know that's always a plus. 'But so far, just being around him, he's got a great personality, he's going to fit in that receiver room just great.' Palmer will play with Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Curtis Samuel in the receiver room, with other new additions like Laviska Shenault Jr. and Kaden Prather looking to compete for playing time behind them. Palmer adds speed and downfield playmaking as well as 10+ yards per reception on average during his four-year NFL career, which increased to 15.0 yards last season. Advertisement 'I've just been getting better every year. I feel like my first few years there with Keenan (Allen) and Mike (Williams), and my receiver coach out there, I was able to find my game and figure out what works and doesn't work,' Palmer said while appearing on One Bills Live 'I got to my second and third year and everything started to take shape. Last year was what it was, and now I'm here ready to explode.' This article originally appeared on Bills Wire: Bills QB Josh Allen 'very excited' about this new teammate Josh Palmer

Bills Rumor Projects $24 Million Receiver Getting Cut
The Buffalo Bills have a large collection of wide receiver already on their roster. High draft picks like Keon Coleman have been paired with free agent signings like Joshua Palmer to create a group of weapons for QB Josh Allen. Along the way, the team has added cheap talent to compete in the room as well with Laviska Shenault and Elijah Moore. Advertisement Because of that, players like veteran Curtis Samuel are often left on the sideline when discussing who can make an impact on Buffalo's offense in 2025. Samuel signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the team last offseason. He didn't live up to that contract, though. With Palmer signed, the Bills may be pushing Samuel out the door. That is precisely what Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report predicted when discussing which player on the roster could be subject to a release come training camp time. "Last offseason, the Buffalo Bills signed wide receiver Curtis Samuel to a three-year, $24 million contract," Knox said. "While Buffalo would only save $430,000 by releasing the 28-year-old, doing so could make sense. Advertisement "Samuel failed to make a significant impact last season, finishing with just 253 receiving yards and one touchdown. The Bills are chasing a championship and could decide that an extra roster spot is more valuable than Samuel's price hit." Samuel still has time to produce during the offseason. He has a skillset and the speed that Buffalo looks for in their offense as help for their MVP caliber quarterback in Allen. But ... Samuel has a lot to prove at this point to show he won't be a cut casualty over the next few months. Josh Allen Reveals Bills View of Battling Curtis Samuel
The 2024 season was not kind to Buffalo Bills wide receiver Curtis Samuel. After signing a three-year deal worth over $24 million, expectations were high for the former Washington Commander and Carolina Panther. There was just one problem, though. Advertisement His impact on the team wasn't anywhere close to what the Bills were expecting for a receiver who totaled over 600 yards in back-to-back years going into 2024. He finished last season with just 31 receptions for 253 yards and one touchdown. Things started to heat up in the playoffs, though. Samuel caught two touchdowns during Buffalo's postseason run, including one in the AFC Title game against the Kansas City Chiefs. It's one of the reasons why the Bills believe Samuel can get back on track moving forward. "I credit Curtis last year. He battled through a lot of different things, little tweaks here and there," said quarterback Josh Allen at the start of OTAs. "Getting him going there, late in the season, it's so big for us because we can utilize him in so many different positions, whether it's Z, F or the running back position. He can play outside, too. He's got the long speed that really helps this offense stretch a field." Advertisement Buffalo not giving up on Samuel is a great thing. It shows an organization that is both contending for a title and also being patient with newcomers. It's hard to replicate that kind of culture. But the Bills might not have a choice. Paying a receiver over $8 million to be their fifth option (which is what Samuel could be) is not good cap allocation. It's why even though the team doesn't want to give up on him, Samuel may be on his last run with the team.
