Sharjah Police return passenger's suitcase left at airport for two months
Sharjah Police surprised an Egyptian passenger, Hisham Mohammed Ahmed, who had lost a suitcase containing valuables at Sharjah International Airport before leaving the country on a trip that lasted more than two months. Upon his return from his trip, the passenger was surprised by the warm welcome of the Customer Happiness Centre, which in turn returned his suitcase, thanks to the efforts of its staff who succeeded in bringing joy and happiness to the passenger. The passenger stated that he had almost lost hope of ever finding his personal suitcase again, especially after he spent more than two months outside the country and knew nothing about his belongings other than that they had been left alone at Sharjah International Airport. 'I had three suitcases and was sitting in the lounge waiting for the plane to take off. In the middle of the large number of passengers, I didn't realize that I had left the third suitcase at the airport until after the plane boarded and the doors closed. I tried to convince the staff on the plane to return and retrieve my suitcase, especially since it contained personal and valuable belongings including sums of money, cheques, a gold ring and personal documents, which meant that it was impossible to leave it without even reporting it as lost. I was not able to return to retrieve the bag and after arriving home, I tried to contact my friend to follow up on the possibility of receiving the bag on my behalf, but this required my presence in person, which meant after the entire vacation had ended,' the passenger said. 'After the flight ended and I returned via Sharjah International Airport, one of the employees told me to go to the airport police station to inquire about lost items. My friend, who was waiting for me outside, and I headed to the station to inquire about my suitcase at the entry gate. I was so warmly welcomed and a female employee assured me that the suitcase was there and that I could receive it and check all its contents. Not only that, but they also told me that the car that was waiting for me would be fully exempt from airport parking fees,' he added. Hisham expressed his extreme happiness about Sharjah Police's honesty and warm welcome, which led him to film a video from inside the airport as a token of his gratitude and appreciation, documenting his entire story and the efforts exerted by the airport police in retrieving his suitcase. He then posted the video on social media, garnering a high viewership rate, widespread interaction from the public nationwide and praise for the efforts exerted by Sharjah Police. Meanwhile, Colonel Matar Sultan Al Ketbi, Head of the Sharjah Airport Police Station, affirmed that lost and found items are handled according to precise procedures that ensure the preservation of rights. He pointed out that the station's duties included returning lost items to their owners, both inside and outside the country, after fully verifying their identities and ensuring they were the intended recipients. This came as part of the 'Employee Happiness' service, which proved effective in enhancing public confidence and customer satisfaction. This incident adds to the successes achieved by the 'Employee Happiness' service, which managed to recover 2,400 lost items last year that included 612 since the beginning of the first quarter of this year, he said, adding that the items included money, electronic devices, jewelry, documents, and personal papers.
