NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Dozens of local non-profits were recognized Tuesday evening for their contributions to the community.

It was all part of the 23rd annual Customers' Choice Community Grants event. Florence Bank hosted the award ceremony at the Garden House at Look Memorial Park in Northampton. Forty leaders of non-profits from the Pioneer Valley were awarded a total of $150,000.
This program is an annual initiative in which Florence Bank customers vote for their favorite local non-profit to receive funding. So far, they have distributed about $1.5 million.
'These are often organizations scratching and clawing for funding to support really important missions that they are doing. So, what we love about this is that the money we are donating really impacts these organizations in a meaningful way,' said President and CEO of Florence Bank, Matt Garrity.
Some of the organizations awarded this evening included the TJO Adoption Center, Northampton Survival Center, and Dakin Humane Society.
