2nd person dies following high-speed I-90 deputy chase that ended in fiery crash

CLEVELAND (WJW) — A second person has died following a chase and fiery crash on I-90 in March, a Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department spokesperson confirmed.
Tamya Westmoreland, 48, was reportedly driving along Eddy Road on March 28 when her vehicle was hit by another vehicle fleeing from deputies. The crash caused her Range Rover to go over a traffic bridge, falling 40 feet. Westmoreland was found on the ground near the fiery scene in critical condition after being ejected from her vehicle.

The victim was taken to University Hospitals for treatment but reportedly died on April 13.
It all began around 10 p.m. after the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputies assigned to the Downtown Cleveland Safety Patrol tried to pull over a man driving a Dodge Neon for making driving erratically and ignoring traffic signs — 'an indication of impaired driving,' the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department said.
Attempting to flee authorities, the driver got onto I-90, moving up to speeds over 100 miles per hour.

After taking the Eddy Road exit, the suspect crashed into the SUV that had the right away.
Authorities said the driver who fled from deputies, 24-year-old Nigel Perry of Cleveland, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle was found 'shattered.'
An investigation is ongoing.
