HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Traffic Police apprehended 362 offenders for driving under influence of alcohol over the weekend in the commissionerate limits. As part of the enforcement drive, the police seized 260 two-wheelers, 24 three-wheelers, 73 four-wheelers, and five heavy vehicles. Among those caught, 316 offenders had Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels ranging from 35 mg/100 ml to 200 mg/100 ml. Out of them, 30 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 201 mg/100 ml to 300 mg/100 ml, 16 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 301 mg/100 ml to 500 mg/100 ml. Police said that all the offenders will be produced before the court. Cyberabad Police reiterates that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence. If anyone is found to be driving in an inebriated condition and causes a fatal accident, such individuals will be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder). The maximum punishment under this section is 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine.

A total of 362 individuals were booked by the Cyberabad Police for driving under the influence of alcohol during the weekend. Of the total cases registered, 260 were riders, 24 were three-wheeler drivers, 73 were operating four-wheelers, and five were behind the wheels of heavy vehicles. A majority, 316 individuals, recorded Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels between 35 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 30 were found with levels between 201 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, while 16 registered dangerously high levels ranging from 301 mg/100 ml to 500 mg/100 ml. Miyapur booked the highest number of cases, with 64 offenders, followed by Shamshabad with 42 cases, and both Chevella and Shadnagar police stations reported 32 cases each. On the other end, Gachibowli recorded the fewest violations with just five cases, while Raidurgam and Narsingi followed closely with seven and nine cases respectively. All those caught will be produced before the court, said the police. The police warned that driving in an inebriated state is a grave offence. They added that if an intoxicated driver is involved in a fatal accident, then the person will be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, pertaining to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This section carries a punishment of up to ten years' imprisonment, along with a fine that is determined by the court. The traffic police have appealed to all motorists to act responsibly and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, urging citizens to help maintain public safety on the roads.

A 30-year-old Nepali national residing in Hyderabad allegedly killed his live-in partner – who was also from Nepal – packed his body into a travel bag, and dumped it in an isolated area, officials said. He was arrested after the incident came to light on June 4 with the discovery of the bag containing the body of the victim – Tara Bohra – near a residential area in the city's Bachupally. The accused was identified as Vijay Toppa alias Wilson, who was employed as a chef at a nearby restaurant. The couple lived in a live-in relationship. The police said that the duo came to know each other on Facebook and then entered a relationship. Tara was already married and had two children. Despite this, she shifted to Hyderabad on April 15 and started sharing a rented accommodation in Bowrampet with Vijay. On May 23, the couple had an argument over her pregnancy, and Vijay allegedly strangled Tara in a fit of rage. Upon her death, he packed her body in a travel bag and left it in an isolated location. A local watchman found the body and informed the police. Senior Cyberabad Police officials, along with forensic teams, reached the spot and launched a detailed investigation. To nab the accused, five special teams were formed. Using CCTV footage and other technical clues, police tracked the suspect, Vijay, to the Medchal district and arrested him. A 30-year-old Nepali national has been arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly murdering his live-in partner, also from Nepal, stuffing her body into a travel bag, and dumping it in a deserted incident came to light on June 4 when the body of 33-year-old Tara Bohra was discovered in a travel bag abandoned near a residential area in Bachupally in swiftly detained the suspect, Vijay Toppa alias Wilson, a chef at a local restaurant, who had been in a live-in relationship with the victim. Investigations revealed that Vijay and Tara had met on Facebook and developed a relationship. Despite being married with two children, Tara moved to Hyderabad on April 15 and began living with Vijay in a rented house in to police, an argument erupted between the couple on May 23, reportedly over Tara's pregnancy. In a fit of rage, Vijay allegedly strangled Tara with a nylon bag thread. He then packed her body into a large travel bag, transported it to a secluded colony, and abandoned it.A local watchman discovered the body and alerted the police. Top officials of Cyberabad Police, including K Suresh Kumar, Satyanarayana, and Ravi Kiran Reddy, along with forensic teams, visited the crime scene and launched an intensive investigation. Cyberabad Traffic Police book 305 for drunk driving in weekend crackdown

The Cyberabad Traffic Police booked 305 male motorists for drunk driving during a weekend special enforcement drive, with two-wheeler riders making up the majority of offenders. The drive, carried out across 17 police station limits, forms part of a continued campaign to curb road accidents caused by intoxicated driving. Among the 305 cases, 242 involved two-wheelers, followed by 47 cases involving four-wheelers and 16 involving three-wheelers. No heavy vehicles were intercepted, and all the apprehended were men, said an officer from Cyberabad Traffic Police. 'The highest number of cases was registered by Miyapur Traffic Police with 52 bookings. Chevella and Balanagar followed with 30 cases each, while Shamshabad recorded 28. Age-wise data revealed that drunk driving continues to be prevalent among younger and middle-aged drivers. The 31–40 age group accounted for the highest number of cases with 116 offenders, followed by 92 in the 21–30 bracket. The 41–50 age group saw 74 cases, while 20 were aged 51–60. Just two drivers were over 60, and none were under 18. Cyberabad Police have warned that anyone found drunk driving and causing a fatal accident will be charged under Section 105 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, a serious offence punishable with up to 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine.
