New flights announced to south-west France
The low-cost airline Volotea has announced two new routes from Bordeaux's Mérignac airport. From November 2025, the Spanish carrier will run twice-weekly flights to Agadir, Morocco (on Tuesdays and Saturdays) and Prague, Czechia (on Wednesdays and Sundays). The announcement is the latest in a series of new departures announced from Bordeaux as the airport moves to fill the gaps in the schedule left by Ryanair's departure last year. The Irish budget airline pulled out of Bordeaux in October 2024 in an argument about airport fees. At the time, the airport's head of routes development, Cyrielle Clement, told The Local that they were in talks with other airlines to fill the gap, and expected that the airport will recover from Ryanair's loss "within two years". Since then, several other companies including easyJet have announced new routes from Bordeaux. READ ALSO The new flights to and from France in 2025

EasyJet adds new UK connection to Bordeaux airport
EasyJet has announced a twice-weekly route from Bordeaux to Edinburgh, although this will only be offered during the summer. Flights will run on Thursdays and Saturdays from June 26th to August 31st, with tickets starting at €62.44. Edinburgh flights from Bordeaux have been suspended since the departure of Ryanair in October 2024, following a dispute about airport fees. Since then, bosses at Bordeaux have been working to pick up the routes previously served by Ryanair, which accounted for around 25 percent of the airport's traffic. The airport's head of routes development, Cyrielle Clement, told The Local in September that; "The British market is still extremely important for Bordeaux, and we are trying to offer as many destinations to the UK as possible. "In the short term, we are focusing on recovering the destinations previously served by Ryanair, though potentially not at the same volume. "We do not have certitude or confirmation right now, but we are putting a lot of effort into recovering certain connections, like Edinburgh, which is a very popular line and has historic significance for Bordeaux. We're in talks with several companies." She added that she expected the airport to have recovered completely from Ryanair's departure "within two years".
