Southern juniors hand Outdoor Power 1st loss; D&D, Cresaptown, Northern win in Hot Stove
POTOMAC PARK — Southern exploded for 11 runs in the fifth inning to defeat Outdoor Power, 13-1, in five innings on Wednesday in a Hot Stove Junior Division matchup at Memorial Field.
Southern (2-0) had five hits, walked five times and benefitted from two errors during the big inning.

Luke Lantz had six runs batted in, and Lantz and Zac Guthrie had multi-hit games for Southern.
Guthrie was the winning pitcher, allowing a run on two hits in 3 1/3 innings. Kaiden Dunithan tossed 1 2/3 shutout frames in relief.
Caden Hall doubled for Outdoor Power (3-1).
Southern faces Northern on Monday at 6 p.m. at Northern High. Outdoor Power takes on the Cresaptown Eagles on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Field.
D&D Motors 5, Northern 4
LONACONING — Declan McGeady singled to lift D&D Motors to a walk-off comeback win over Northern on Wednesday at Westmar Middle.
D&D was one out from winning the game in the top half of the seventh when Caleb Yoder doubled to plate a pair and give Northern a 4-3 lead.

An error in the bottom of the seventh scored the tying run before McGeady's walk-off. McGeady had two runs batted in.
Izaak Thrasher took a no decision on the mound allowing two runs on three hits with nine strikeouts to two walks in six innings. Jacob Broadwater earned the win in relief.
Mason Wagner was tabbed with a no decision for Northern, allowing three runs on three hits in five innings. Wagner doubled twice at the plate.
D&D battles Chessie Federal Credit Union on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Field.
Northern hosts Southern at Northern High on Monday at 6 p.m.

POTOMAC PARK — The Cresaptown Eagles took advantage of 10 walks and four errors to roll to a six-inning romp of Chessie Federal Credit Union on Wednesday at Memorial Field.
Cresaptown finished with just four base hits. Smearman doubled and had three RBIs, Cowan drove in two and Vonstein doubled.
Smith, Cecil and Long combined to hold Chessie to two runs on two hits in six innings.
First names for Cresaptown were not available online.
Evan Padovini doubled for Chessie FCU.
Cresaptown faces Frankfort at Memorial Field at 5 p.m. Chessie faces D&D Motors at Memorial Field on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Senior Division Northern 16, Growden 2

GRANTSVILLE — Northern scored nine runs in the second inning and cruised past Growden Heating and Cooling in a Senior Division matchup on Wednesday at Grantsville Park.
Raley was 2 for 2 with four runs batted in, Chambers had three RBIs, Spiker tallied two hits and two ribbies, and Beitzel and Myers-Shirer doubled.
Yoder tossed two shutout innings on two hits to start, fanning three and walking none. Chambers earned the win in relief, allowing two runs over the final three innings.
First names for Northern were not available online.
Growden faces Cumberland Optimist on Monday at 5 p.m. at Memorial Field. Northern welcomes Riverside Sports to Northern High on Friday at 6 p.m.
