) has opened the Detailed Application Form (DAF-I) window for candidates who have cleared the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025. This form is important because only those who submit it will be allowed to appear for the Mains exam.
The DAF-I must be filled out online at the official website, between June 16 and June 25, 2025.
Candidates will need to enter their personal, educational, and other details, upload documents, and select their service preferences. It's important to fill the form carefully and before the deadline to avoid any issues later. The UPSC Mains exam is scheduled to start on August 22, 2025.
What is UPSC DAF-I?
DAF‑I (Detailed Application Form‑1) is the stage following Prelims, required to finalize candidature for the Mains exam.
It includes personal details, education, employment history, document uploads, service preferences, and provisions for PwBD/scribe requirements. Final Mains hall tickets and candidacy confirmation depend on accurate, timely submission of the UPSC DAF.
How to fill DAF‑I online?

1. Registration/Login
Start by visiting the official UPSC website and logging in using your One Time Registration (OTR) credentials — this includes your Registration ID and Date of Birth.

2. Complete the Six Required Modules
You'll need to fill out six sections in the DAF-I form:
Personal Information – Basic details like name, address, and contact information.
Educational Background – Class 10 to graduation (and beyond, if applicable).
Parental/Family Details – Information about your parents or guardians.
Employment Record – Work experience, if you have any.
Document Uploads – Required certificates and proofs.
Service Preferences & Others – Choose preferred services and provide details for PwBD/scribe support if needed.
3. Upload Required Documents
Make sure to upload clear, legible copies of the following:
Proof of age and educational qualifications
Category certificate or PwBD certificate (if applicable)
Gazette notification in case of a name change after Class 10
4. Pay the Application Fee
General/OBC (male) candidates must pay a fee of Rs. 200.
Female, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are exempt from paying the fee.
5. Review and Final Submission
Before submitting:
Carefully review all the entered details.
Remember: pre-filled fields like name and DOB cannot be edited.
Once submitted, no changes can be made — so check everything thoroughly.
Submit the form on or before 25 June 2025.
