Agripada bizman held for abetting wife suicide
Mumbai: A 27-year-old Agripada businessman was arrested on Saturday for abetment to suicide after his wife died falling from the 13th floor of her flat in Mazgaon in south Mumbai.
The arrest came after the woman's ex-husband lodged a complaint alleging that just before her death she had sent him messages and called him alleging she was being harassed by her new husband, Shoaib Khan.
Khan's lawyer, Saurabh Ghag, argued in the court that it was a false case. The court directed a DCP-level officer to monitor the probe. Agripada police arrested Khan after his anticipatory bail plea was withdrawn before Bombay high court.
The complaint was lodged by 63-year-old businessman Hashmat Ali Haider Ali Khan, a resident of Mazgaon, who alleged that his ex-wife Gulshan Khan (44), died under suspicious circumstances on April 6, 2025. Just days before her demise, she made a series of calls and sent messages to the complainant in which she claimed harassment by Khan, his brother Zaid, and their mother Roshan. —Ahmed Ali
