DEME Group Selects Cohesive for IBM Maximo Application Suite Upgrade

By Editor_wr On Apr 12, 2025 Cohesive, part of Bentley Systems, has been appointed by DEME, a leading contractor in the fields of offshore energy, environmental remediation, dredging, and marine infrastructure, to support a key technology project designed to enhance management of its 100-strong fleet of specialist vessels. The team of enterprise asset management specialists at Cohesive will work with DEME to implement IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) and de-customize its existing Maximo 7.6.1.3 system. MAS is a single, integrated, asset management platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), and analytics to optimize performance and reduce operational downtime across the asset lifecycle. The appointment marks the next step in Cohesive's partnership with DEME. Since 2016, DEME has relied on Cohesive's Data Replication (CDR) software to synchronise data across its various Maximo instances deployed on dispersed vessels. The CDR helps to ensure that each of DEME's disconnected Maximo environments are synchronized with their central instance, allowing for seamless operations across the entire enterprise. Pierre De Wet, Vice President, Cohesive, said: 'This upgrade will not only improve system performance but also streamline operations and reduce costs.' The project reflects DEME's commitment to embracing digital solutions and expertise that help drive operational excellence and ensure sustainable and resilient assets. Asset-intensive organizations around the globe are selecting Cohesive to help them move to MAS ahead of IBM's removal of support for Maximo 7.6.1 in September 2025. Cohesive is a certified IBM Platinum Business Partner. It has delivered more than 700 transformational enterprise asset management (EAM) programmes to large, complex industrial organizations across industries, including Energy, Utilities, Transportation, Mining, and Manufacturing. Cohesive was named as a 'leader' in the Green Quadrant: Industrial Asset Management Technology Implementation Services 2024 report from Verdantix,?the independent advisory and research group. Verdantix gave Cohesive the top score in its 'Green Quadrant' (2.5/3.0) for its EAM software implementation capabilities and the top score (a perfect 3.0/3.0) for its capabilities in managing the 'people and change' aspects of digital transformation. DEME to acquire offshore wind contractor Havfram in $985.2m deal

Belgium-based offshore energy contractor DEME has signed an agreement to acquire all shares of Havfram Wind Holdco from Sandbrook Capital and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) in a €900m ($985.2m) deal. Havfram is a Norwegian offshore wind infrastructure services company that specialises in transport and installation services within the offshore wind sector. The acquisition will bolster DEME's capabilities in turbine and foundation installations, aligning with its ambition to expand its market footprint. The transaction is expected to close by the end of April 2025, subject to customary closing conditions. Havfram will become part of DEME's offshore energy segment. Havfram is constructing two next-generation wind turbine installation vessels, with deliveries scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025 and early 2026. These vessels are already under contract for the second half of 2026. The transaction value includes the remaining capital expenditures needed to complete both vessels. The company, with an order book worth €600m, is set to support the construction of some of the largest offshore wind farms globally from 2026 to 2030. Until the transaction is finalised, Havfram will continue to operate independently. DEME CEO Luc Vandenbulcke stated: 'DEME's investment in Havfram underscores our unwavering belief in the immense potential of offshore wind infrastructure as a key element in the global energy transition. This acquisition complements our fleet and will bolster our competitive edge in both turbine and foundation installations, enhancing our operational flexibility and interchangeability, and strengthening DEME's leadership position in the industry. 'Havfram's state-of-the-art vessels are equipped to install the next generation of turbines and foundations, seamlessly integrating with DEME's existing fleet. Havfram's expertise and innovative approach will complement our strengths and capabilities, allowing us to deliver even greater value to our customers in the offshore wind industry.' In October 2024, DEME secured a contract to transport and install inter-array cables and secondary steel for the OranjeWind offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. "DEME to acquire offshore wind contractor Havfram in $985.2m deal" was originally created and published by Power Technology, a GlobalData owned brand. Belgium rekindles economic ties with Kuwait after 23 years

KUWAIT CITY - After several years, Belgium is set to renew its economic ties with Kuwait through an Economic Mission scheduled for 29–30 April 2025. The last such visit was in 2002, marking this upcoming mission as a significant milestone in Belgian-Kuwaiti relations. This renewed engagement underscores the strong potential and mutual interest in deepening bilateral economic cooperation. Led by the Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Belgian Embassy in Kuwait, Ms. Laurence Heyblom, the mission will bring together 44 Belgian companies spanning 12 key sectors, to explore business opportunities and foster new commercial partnerships. The sectors represented include engineering and industrial, healthcare and medical, technology and ICT, security and safety, energy and sustainability, construction and real estate, retail and trade, education and training, legal and compliance, and food and beverages. 'This mission is not just about trade – it's about building lasting relationships,' Ms. Heyblom emphasized during a recent meeting. 'We want to introduce Kuwait to the diversity and innovation of Belgian companies, and also help Belgian businesses better understand the Kuwaiti market.' Despite Belgium's strong global economic footprint – boasting a GDP of approximately $600 billion and exports comprising 85% of its economic output – its products remain relatively unknown to most Kuwaitis beyond the well-loved Belgian waffles, fries, and chocolate. This mission seeks to change that narrative. Key Belgian firms such as DEME (a global leader in dredging and marine infrastructure), John Cockerill (specializes in industrial engineering and environmental technology), and GSK Biologicals (a pharmaceutical leader in vaccine production) will be among the participants, showcasing Belgium's world-class innovation and eco-friendly solutions. Highlighting Belgium's logistics strength, Ms. Heyblom noted that the Port of Antwerp is Europe's second-largest and the world's second-largest petrochemical hub, positioning Belgium as a strategic trade and industrial gateway to Europe. Trade between Belgium and Kuwait already demonstrates promise. Belgium's main exports to Kuwait include chemicals (40%), food (18.6%), and machinery (11%). Meanwhile, imports from Kuwait are dominated by mineral products, making up 97.6% of total imports. Through this mission, Belgium aims to not only enhance its trade volumes with Kuwait but also plant the seeds for long-term partnerships. With a diverse set of industries and a clear commitment to collaboration, the Economic Mission 2025 is set to open new doors and elevate bilateral relations to a new level. By Nasser Al-Hajeri
