Punjab: Cross-border weapon smuggling module busted, two held
Punjab Police on Thursday (June 5, 2025) unearthed a cross-border weapon smuggling module with the arrest of two persons. Six sophisticated weapons, including Glock pistols, have also been recovered from them. The accused have been identified as Surajpal Singh and Arshdeep Singh, residents of Tarn Taran, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said. Two arrested as Punjab Police busts cross-border weapon smuggling module
The Punjab Police has successfully busted a cross-border weapon smuggling module with connections to Pakistan on Thursday. The operation, conducted by Tarn Taran Police, led to the arrest of Surajpal Singh and Arshdeep Singh from Village Lakhna. The police recovered six sophisticated firearms, including two PX5.30 pistols and four 9 mm Glock pistols, all loaded with live cartridges. The operation was carried out after receiving a specific tip-off about the illegal smuggling activities. In a statement shared on the microblogging platform X, DGP Punjab Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered. Further investigation is underway to identify the full network of backwards and forward linkages related to the smuggling operation. Meanwhile, to review the performance of all districts amid the ongoing Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign, a high-level review meeting-attended by all Spl. Director Generals of Police (DGPs), Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGPs), Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs), Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs), and all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs)/ Commissioners of Police (CPs)-was held on Wednesday. Earlier on May 28, Punjab's Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested three drug traffickers- Maninderjit Singh, Peter, and Lovejit Singh @ Raja near Shankar Dhaba on Attari Road, Amritsar. Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the team seized "four PX5 Storm pistols, 521 grams of heroin, 7 magazines & 55 live cartridges," DGP Punjab Police posted in a tweet. An FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act has been registered at PS ANTF, SAS Nagar. The DGP also wrote, "@ANTFPunjab is actively pursuing both forward and backwards linkages to dismantle the entire network."He further added, "@PunjabPoliceInd remains firmly committed to eradicating drug syndicates, seizing illegal arms, and building a #NashaMuktPunjab."

Jasbir Singh , a popular YouTuber with over 1.1 million subscribers on his channel 'Jaan Mahal,' has been arrested by Punjab Police for alleged involvement in a Pakistan-backed spy network. Singh was taken into custody by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, based on intelligence inputs. He is the second content creator arrested in recent weeks in this case. Earlier, Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra , with whom Singh was in regular contact, was also held on espionage charges. Jasbir Singh: Content creator with cross-border connections A resident of Mahlan village in Rupnagar district, Jasbir Singh built a large audience on YouTube. However, police say his online activity hid deeper connections. According to officials, Singh was in close contact with Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, a Pakistani intelligence officer of Indian origin suspected to be linked to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Punjab Police also confirmed that Singh maintained communication with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a former official at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi who was expelled from India earlier on espionage charges. Gagan was activated to share information during Op Sindoor: SSP Rana on arrest Tarn Taran man
Tarn Taran (Punjab) [India], June 3 (ANI): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhimanyu Rana revealed that Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, a resident of Tarn Taran, was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence officers. While speaking to ANI on Tuesday, SSP Rana informed, 'According to the directions of Punjab CM and DGP, Tarn Taran police constantly busts the drug and terror nexus. We received information that Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan is in touch with a Pakistani intelligence officer.' According to SSP Rana, Gagan has been in touch with Pakistani intelligence officers for the past five years. His main handler is Gopal Singh Chawla, a Khalistani based in Pakistan. 'Investigating the same, a team of police carried out an operation and recovered two mobile phones in which, contact numbers of over 20 Pakistani officers were present, and he had also initiated talks with Gopal Singh Chawla. He (Gagan) has been in touch with Pakistani intelligence officers for 5 years...' SSP Rana said. During Operation Sindoor, Gagan was activated to share information about Indian army movements, and investigations revealed that he was sharing sensitive information such as photos and videos. 'When Operation Sindoor started, he was activated to share information about the movement of the Indian army, and after checking his phone, it was revealed that he was sharing a lot of sensitive information with Pakistani officers, sending them photos and videos and was active all the while... His main handler is Gopal Singh Chawla, and his passport was made in 2018.' SSP Rana added. Further investigation revealed that money was transferred to Gagan's account from a foreign country 7-8 times, with increased activity over the past three months. Furthermore, an FIR has been registered against Gagan under the Official Secrets Act, and further investigation is underway. SSP Rana said, 'We are extracting details on whether he travelled to foreign countries or Pakistan... According to the details of his accounts, it was found that money was transferred to his account from a foreign country 7-8 times... His activity had increased over the past 3 months... We are trying to know if he was working as a sleeper cell... FIR has been registered against him under the Official Secrets Act, and his remand will be taken today, and further investigation will be conducted... He was a drug addict, but we will investigate if he was also getting consignments (from Pakistan).' Earlier, in a post on X, DGP Punjab Police shared information stating that Gagandeep had been in touch with the ISI and Gopal Singh Chawla, sharing classified details concerning army movements during Operation Sindhoor. On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in which 26 people were killed. CHANDIGARH: The Batala police have busted a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module, in a major breakthrough against Pakistan 's ISI-backed terror networks operating under the command of foreign-based handlers Maninder Billa and Mannu Agwan, acting on the instructions of Harwinder Singh Rinda. According to the SSP, the arrested persons were part of various sub-modules of the terror network, including grenade operatives, logistics, financing, and those who provided shelter. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the module is associated with the banned terror outfit BKI. "Two days ago, they attempted a grenade attack outside a liquor vend in Batala," said SSP adding that following the attack, terror operative Mannu Agwan claimed responsibility for the act. He is currently undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, Batala. A .30 bore pistol was recovered from his possession. An FIR has been registered at Civil Lines Police Station, Batala, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
