Barbie Hsu's statue to be erected on first year anniversary of her passing

22 May - Barbie Hsu's mother Huang Chun-mei recently revealed that a statue of the late actress is expected to be completed on the anniversary of her death next year. In an interaction with netizens recently, Madam Huang shared that her son-in-law DJ Koo Jun-yup was the one who designed the statue, saying, "The design was made by Oppa [Koo]. Every sketch is beautiful. He's tanned because he spends so much time with Xiyuan." "Oppa is truly loyal and affectionate. What more could one ask for in life? This is true love," she added. When a netizen mentioned that Koo seemed much thinner in the family photo she shared, Madam Huang said that the Korean entertainer would often go to Chin Pao San cemetery to accompany his wife, which has also made his skin tone even darker due to the sun. She also added that she too would go to the cemetery whenever she misses Barbie, saying that the late actress was one of her ribs who was always supporting her. However, he assured that he is trying his best to hold on. It is noted that the family previously cancelled the plan to have Barbie's ashes buried under a tree as she once wanted, and instead chose Chin Pao San Cemetery in Taipei as her final resting place. Barbie Hsu laid to rest 41 days after her passing

17 Mar - More than a month following her passing, Barbie Hsu is finally laid to rest at the Chin Pao San Cemetery in Jinshan. On 15 March, the Hsu family, including her mother, two children, sister Dee Hsu, as well as Barbie's husband DJ Koo Jun-yup appeared at the cemetery to pay their final respects. DJ Koo, who was dressed in black, appeared grief-stricken as he carried his wife's ashes to the burial site, and was reportedly sobbing as he did so. It was also revealed that Barbie's ex-husband Wang Xiaofei was not invited to the ceremony. It is noted that the family originally planned to hold a tree burial as a sign of respect for Barbie who had always been private. However, they decided on the cemetery at the request of DJ Koo, who wanted a place where he can visit her privately. Sources also claimed that the Korean entertainer had been cooking Barbie's favourite dishes every day prior to her final resting place, and would offer the dishes in front of the actress' urn. He would also kneel down according to Korean funeral customs to express his gratitude. Following the ceremony, Dee responded to Taiwanese media, saying, "Thank you for your concern. Everything went smoothly." (Photo Source: Barbie Fanpage IG)

DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu's children to inherit late actress' fortune

The entire estate left behind by late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu will be inherited by her husband, DJ Koo, and her two children, according to reports from Taiwanese media. Koo Jun Yup, popularly known as DJ Koo, has been confirmed as one of the heirs to the Meteor Garden star's multimillion-dollar fortune, despite initially refusing to claim any inheritance. The total estate, valued at approximately 600 million yuan (PHP 4.7 billion), will be divided among DJ Koo, Barbie's 10-year-old daughter, and 8-year-old son. However, since the children are still minors, their biological father, Wang Xiaofei, will manage their inheritance until they reach legal age. Xiaofei, a Chinese businessman and Barbie's ex-husband, was also granted custody of their children instead of DJ Koo. The former couple divorced in 2021. On February 6, 2025, DJ Koo broke his silence regarding his late wife's estate, revealing that he and Barbie had a premarital agreement designed to protect their individual assets in case of separation. However, reports indicate that their prenup was not notarized, which could render it legally invalid in court. This was DJ Koo's first public statement since Barbie's passing on February 2 at the age of 48. According to Mirror Media, Barbie allegedly received $19 million as part of the division of assets with her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei. Meanwhile, Sohu reported that Xiaofei also left a 720-square-meter villa for their children. In an Instagram post written in a mix of Korean and Chinese, DJ Koo expressed frustration over the financial rumors, calling them an attack on his family. He also referred to Barbie by her Korean name, Seo Hee-won.

Husband of late Barbie ‘Big S' Hsu vows to protect children from ‘the wicked'

The husband of late Taiwanese actress Barbie 'Big S' Hsu Shi-yuan has pledged to take legal action to protect her children 'from the wicked' and offer his share from her hard-earned inheritance to his mother-in-law. In a post on his Instagram page on Thursday night, South Korean rapper Koo Jun-yup, also known as 'DJ Koo', broke his silence to mourn his wife who died at the age of 48. Her family on Monday confirmed the superstar's sudden death in Japan from a flu-triggered pneumonia. 'I am currently in a state of indescribable sadness and pain, with a heart as if being cut by a knife, and my insides are torn apart. I have no strength to speak, nor do I want to speak,' Koo wrote in both Chinese and Korean. Koo rekindled his relationship with Hsu, whom he dated previously, in 2022, and they married after the actress ended her decade-long marriage with Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei. Hsu and Wang, who had a daughter and a son together, had acrimonious exchanges on social media and filed lawsuits following their separation. In his post Koo said there were individuals tarnishing his family, with some pretending to mourn while walking in the rain. Barbie Hsu and DJ Koo. Photo: Instagram/ jnbloversph
