Nvidia RTX 5050 laptop GPU specs leak — here's the first laptops getting it
Nvidia's RTX 5050 GPU is becoming more of a reality, as the rumored graphics card has shown up once again — this time in upcoming Acer gaming laptops. In Acer's GPU spec sheet for gaming laptops in 2025, the company lists several Acer Nitro systems with multiple RTX 50-series GPUs, from an RTX 5070 Ti to an RTX 5060. However, the listings also include RTX 5050 mobile graphics cards, including the TGP (Total Graphics Power) and clock speeds. According to the sheet, the RTX 5050 laptop GPU will offer up to 100W TGP (115W max graphics power) along with up to 2,550MHz clock speeds (2,650MHz with PredatorSense boost OC). However, as VideoCardz notes, there are different configurations showing various specs. Currently, the RTX 5050 listings have been taken down on Acer's sheet, meaning these configurations may not be final — so take this all in with a pinch of salt. That said, if accurate, these are the gaming laptops equipped with an RTX 5050 we can expect: Other Nitro laptops with more RTX 5050 GPU configurations were also spotted, from 50W TGP (60W max) with 1,500MHz (up to 1,600MHz) clock speeds to 80W TGP (95W max) with 2,212MHz (up to 2,650MHz) clock speeds. This doesn't seem like much, especially when compared to the might of RTX 5090 gaming laptops, but we could see DLSS 4 put to good use. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Notably, other specs aren't shown, such as the GPU's video memory or CUDA core count. However, previous Lenovo Legion 5 and Lenovo LOQ 15 leaks sporting RTX 5050 laptop GPUs revealed the graphics card would deliver 8GB GDDR7 VRAM, meaning its graphics memory is up to speed with the rest of the RTX 50-series family (and similar to the RTX 5060 and the lower-end RTX 5060 Ti with 8GB VRAM.). The laptop listings have since been taken down, and there's no word on launch dates or pricing. Since Nvidia has yet to officially announce its RTX 5050 GPU, there's no telling when the latest graphics card will arrive — and whether there will be a desktop variant. If Team Green does deliver an RTX 5050, expect budget-friendly gaming performance bolstered by DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Gen. It aims to replace RTX 4050 gaming laptops, and considering the performance bumps we've seen in RTX 5060 gaming laptops, Nvidia's low-end graphics card could benefit from Nvidia's AI trickery — especially if prices are pocket-friendly. It may not be long until we learn all we need to know about Nvidia's RTX 5050 GPUs (in gaming laptops and possible desktops), but in the meantime, check out our RTX 5060 Ti review to see how DLSS 4 shines.

NVIDIA expands DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation to over 125 games
NVIDIA has recently made a series of exciting announcements that highlight its continued push to redefine gaming visuals and performance. Among the key updates is the introduction of DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, now supported in over 125 games and applications, with 10 new titles set to launch soon. This latest iteration promises smoother gameplay and even greater visual fidelity. In addition, DOOM: The Dark Ages will receive cutting-edge enhancements, including path tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction, offering players a more immersive and realistic experience. NVIDIA is also rolling out a major update to the fan-favourite Portal with RTX, further refining the classic game with enhanced lighting and performance. To celebrate the modding community, NVIDIA has teamed up with ModDB to launch a $50,000 RTX Remix Mod Contest, encouraging creators to reimagine classic games using RTX technology. Over 125 DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation games and apps available now At the end of January, GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards and DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation launched with support available in 75 games and apps. In March, NVIDIA surpassed 100 games and apps. And now there's support for over 125 games, reaching this milestone two years faster than DLSS 3. DLSS 4 is the fastest-adopted NVIDIA gaming technology in the company's history. DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation generates up to three additional frames per traditionally rendered frame, working in unison with the complete suite of DLSS technologies to multiply frame rates by up to 8X over traditional brute-force rendering. This massive performance improvement on GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards and laptops enables you to max out visuals at the highest resolutions and play at incredible frame rates. Here are the newly announced games and apps that are launching with DLSS 4: Crimson Desert F1® 25 FBC: Firebreak Dune: Awakening inZOI LIGHT OF MOTIRAM MindsEye RoadCraft Splitgate 2 WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers Chaos Enscape & Autodesk VRED DOOM: The Dark Ages Path Tracing and DLSS Ray reconstruction upgrade launching in June Last week, DOOM: The Dark Ages launched with GeForce RTX gamers receiving the definitive PC experience, thanks to NVIDIA's technical partnership with id Software. The game launched with native idTech8 ray tracing technologies accelerated with GeForce RTX Ray Tracing Cores, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Relex. In June, an update will introduce PC-exclusive path tracing. Path tracing takes the quality of ray-traced lighting to the next level, reflecting additional detail and game elements on surfaces. NVIDIA Spatial Hash Radiance Cache (SHaRC) technology is leveraged to compute path-traced light performantly, while NVIDIA Shader Execution Reordering further accelerates performance on GeForce RTX GPUs. To ensure path tracing looks its absolute best, traditional denoisers are replaced on GeForce RTX GPUs with DLSS Ray Reconstruction. This AI-based technique produces higher-quality images, with more detail and greater stability, improving overall image quality. Portal with RTX DLSS 4 with multi frame generation and RTX Neural Radiance Cache Upgrade out now A fantastic example of what's possible with NVIDIA RTX Remix is Portal with RTX. This reimagining of Valve's timeless classic uses full ray tracing to accurately model the real-world properties of light and how that light affects every surface and object. Illumination, shadows, reflections, refraction, and everything in between are all a result of the fully ray-traced world and its interactions with upgraded assets, adding dazzling detail and dynamism to levels and effects. In a new update that's available now on Steam, NVIDIA has upgraded Portal with RTX 's neural renderer to deliver even better performance and image quality. Additionally, the game now features a native integration of DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, while DLSS Frame Generation is upgraded to the latest AI model, and DLSS Ray Reconstruction is upgraded to the new transformer AI model. The Portal with RTX update also introduces RTX Neural Radiance Cache (NRC) technology, the world's first neural shader that leverages AI to estimate accurate indirect lighting.

Doom The Dark Ages is my favorite kind of nightmare — this is how it runs on an RTX 5090 gaming laptop
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. I got the chance to jump into Doom: The Dark Ages on an RTX 5090 gaming laptop, and let me tell you, it feels good blasting away demons in this high-fidelity, beautiful nightmare. Doom: The Dark Ages is the latest entry in the Doom reboot franchise. It takes place before Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, at a time when the Slayer was bound by gods and kings to combat the forces of hell. It's like if medieval fantasy and Doom had a baby, and I love it (insert sob emoji here). I played Doom: The Dark Ages on an HP Omen Max 16 outfitted with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 24GB GPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 16-inch, 2560 x 1600, 240Hz, OLED display. Here's how it ran. I wasted no time jumping into the hardest difficulty… Well, not the hardest. I don't have it in me to get my whole save wiped in Pandemonium or Ultra-Nightmare, so I went with regular ol' Nightmare. However, for the graphic settings, I pulled that level like Kronk all the way to Ultra Nightmare, 2560 x 1600, and that applies to all of the following tests below. Now, Nvidia's RTX 5090 and all of its RTX 50-series siblings boast DLSS 4, which is a super sampling technology that boosts visuals and performance. I've been somewhat critical of the technology due to my fear of developers relying on Multi-Frame Generation too heavily in order to optimize their performance (ahem, Monster Hunter Wilds). So naturally, the first thing I did was turn off all of that. I started tearing through demons in the Village of Khalim with the upscaler set to its default, TAA (there's no option to turn off upscaling). After Oblivion: Remastered scorned me with its sub-60 fps performance, I had my doubts that the RTX 5090 could pull through. But to Nvidia's credit, and id Software's for optimizing their game so well, I got a sweet 85 fps. Getting above 60 fps on a laptop with a 1600p display is ideal. However, I do like playing with the DLSS 4 upscaler, especially when set to DLAA, which maintains the native resolution while also enhancing the visuals. I expected the performance to be about the same as TAA or maybe better, but when I thrashed some devils with my new power gauntlet, it came back with 50 fps. It's not terrible, but it's not 60 fps. This is when I turned to Frame Generation (2x) and Multi-Frame Generation (4x). This technology uses AI to create frames for every true frame, 2x being one for one and 4x being one for three. It's pretty cool in theory, but it has its issues, like occasional fuzziness or artifacting. I didn't notice anything egregious in Doom: The Dark Ages, but you may have a different experience than I. I leapt back into the fray, doubling up on my aggression (turning on 2x FG), and I broke demon spines at 82 fps. That's a more comfortable frame rate, but I'm surprised FG couldn't push it further than TAA. But of course, cranking it up to MFG (4x), I saw a blistering 140 fps. Using DLAA provides the most optimal visuals outside of raw performance. However, if you want to make use of that high refresh rate display, set the DLSS to Ultra Performance. I bounced across the battlefield like my child when I say we're going outside, which got me a smooth 131 fps. And that's without frame generation. Popping on FG (2x) bumped me up to 178 fps. Then, meleeing my way to MFG (4x), the RTX 5090 blasted through the Omen's 240Hz display with a score of 260 fps. It's nice to see that id Software took care in optimizing the performance of Doom: The Dark Ages. Some beloved AAA games have failed to present respectable frames at max settings even on the most powerful hardware to date. Right now, id Software's minimum spec requirement for Doom: The Dark Ages is an RTX 2060 Super or AMD RX 6600 GPU. That's a little higher than I'd like it to be, but it feels honest considering the performance I got. But overall, if you're interested in getting one of the best gaming laptops, you can expect some slayer performance.

Jensen Huang at Computex: "It's not because we don't love GeForce, GeForce got us here."
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Gaming laptop fans might finally be able to snag an RTX 50-series gaming rig for less than the cost of rent in NYC. Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, took the stage on Monday for the Computex opening keynote at the Taipei Music Center. While much of the speech focused on AI, robotics, and data center information, Nvidia did not forget gamers and the GeForce platform. "As CEO, you have a lot of children," Huang told the crowd. "Now our keynotes are 90% not GeForce, but it's not because we don't love GeForce, GeForce got us here." Of the many announcements about GeForce gaming from Nvidia at Computex, the one that was most important to gamers was the official release of the RTX 5060 laptop GPU. While we have known the RTX 5060's mobile variant was in the works for some time now, this is the official unveiling of Nvidia's more budget-friendly laptop GPU. Systems featuring the RTX 5060 are available starting today. So here's what we know about the RTX 5060 so far. Cuda Cores VRAM Memory bus RTX 5060 3,328 8GB 128 bit Nvidia claims the RTX 5060 is over two times as powerful as the RTX 3060. Of course, those claims include Nvidia's new DLSS 4 and frame generation technology so that you won't get that much uplift on pure silicon power. But if you're willing to accept AI frame generation technology, you can easily get frame rates exceeding 100FPS at 1080p with an RTX 5060, even on demanding games like Avowed, Cyberpunk 2077, and Doom: The Dark Ages. Without the use of DLSS 4 and frame generation, you should still hit the 60fps minimum playability benchmark with an RTX 5060 laptop. But if you have an RTX 4060 laptop, it may not be worth upgrading yet this gen. Nvidia's RTX 5060 GPUs will launch concurrently, with the 5060 desktop and laptop GPUs starting today, May 19, 2025. Laptops featuring the RTX 5060 laptop GPU are expected to start at just $1,099, though prices will vary by manufacturer. If the RTX 5060 laptops follow the same trend as the RTX 5090 laptops, Nvidia's quoted starting price will be well below what systems actually retail for. Nvidia announced the RTX 5090 laptops as starting at $2,899. We've yet to review an RTX 5090 laptop that came even close to that price point. Based on the current trend of gaming laptop pricing and US tariffs, it's probably best to assume most RTX 5060 laptops will cost closer to $1,500. Folks searching for a gaming laptop at a bargain price might still want to hold out for the expected RTX 5050, which is expected to come later this year. Or, go back a generation and grab an RTX 4060 or 4050 laptop before they sell out. Nvidia had plenty of other announcements to make at Computex, mostly revolving around the company's robotics and artificial intelligence ventures. "Nvidia is not a technology company only anymore," Huang enthused. "We are an essential infrastructure company." Specifically, Nvidia is an AI Infrastructure company. "In ten years' time, you will look back and realize AI has integrated into everything." Huang's view of the future is that "AI is in everything." From chips to systems to data centers to infrastructure, Nvidia intends to be at the forefront of all artificial intelligence systems into the future. Nvidia is still working on quantum computing with Cuda-Q, powered by the Nvidia Grace CPU and Nvidia Blackwell GPU platforms. As for robotics, Nvidia sees general robotics as the "next Trillion-Dollar industry." And "it's where we're going in the future," Huang claimed. And the road to that starts with the Grace Blackwell system. "Now you're starting to see it coming up from everywhere." "We will increase the performance of our platform every year, like rhythm." And thus, Grace Blackwell will be upgraded to Grace Blackwell BG300, with a new Grace Blackwell Ultra superchip. Grace Blackwell GB300 is even more powerful and efficient than previous superchips, thanks to the Grace Blackwell NVL72 system, which allows Nvidia to combine two Grace Blackwell chips for additional power on a GB300 super tray. "That is extreme Moore's Law," Haung claimed. This is an interesting pivot from the man who claimed that Moore's Law is dead, as semiconductors can only get so small or fast. Then again, in recent months, Nvidia's answer has pivoted to 'Our systems are progressing way faster than Moore's Law' because of artificial intelligence. Nvidia also shared an update about it's AI PC collaboration project with MediaTek, the former Project Digits supercomputer, now called DGX Spark. When can we expect DGX Spark to hit the shelves? Huang shared, "DGX Spark is now in full production... Everyone can have one for Christmas." However, DGX Spark is not the only AI supercomputer Nvidia is working on. There will also be a desktop variant called DGX Station. As for robots, Nvidia is working with partners to create training models and simulations for physical robots. Because "Who doesn't want that?" The same systems that are helping train the Isaac Labs robots can be used for self-driving cars, and Nvidia is shipping autonomous car runtimes with Mercedes-Benz later this year. "I'd love it if you buy everything from me, but please buy something from me," Huang joked before announcing that the Nvidia Isaac GROOT N1.5 robotics model is now open-source, completely free. Finally, Huang wrapped up his keynote with the announcement of a new Taiwan office, called Nvidia Constellation. The new Nvidia HQ will be housed at Beitou-Shilin Technology Park in Taipei. Acer's ultra-portable Predator Triton 14 AI gaming laptop could be the coolest thing at Computex Qualcomm's Computex event is all about AI. Is that a mistake?
