European Natural-Gas Price Falls as LNG Demand in Asia Weakens
1025 GMT – European natural-gas prices extend losses in midday trade, with the benchmark Dutch TTF contract dropping below 32 euros a megawatt hour. 'LNG imports to Northwest Europe have picked up again… at a level we believe is more than sufficient to balance the European market and refill inventories,' analysts at DNB Markets DNB 0.67%increase; green up pointing triangle say. 'LNG imports must continue to be high going forward, as it is very much needed for Europe to rebuild inventories before the next heating season.' Meanwhile, weaker demand in Asia is contributing to the price decline, with China re-exporting the highest volume of gas ever in a single month in April, market watchers say, citing data from Bloomberg. Demand in the continent is also expected to weaken further this week due to above-average temperatures. (

Europe's Gas Prices Slide But Still Well-Supported
0948 GMT – European natural-gas prices slide in early trade after jumping in the previous session, with the benchmark Dutch TTF contract down 2.5% to 44.07 euros a megawatt hour. Still, prices will likely continue to be supported by a colder weather forecast and fading hopes for a near-term Russia-Ukraine peace deal, according to market watchers. Meanwhile, storage levels in the EU are just under 38% full–compared to 62% last year and a five-year average of 49%–raising concerns over the region's refilling requirements over the summer. Last month, gas demand in Europe was up 25% on year, mainly driven by an increase in heating demand and low wind speeds, DNB Markets DNB -0.57%decrease; red down pointing triangle analysts say. (

Europe's Gas Price Eases on Warmer Weather Forecast
1215 GMT – European natural-gas prices continue to trade below the 50-euros-a-megawatt-hour mark amid warmer weather forecasts and EU talks to relax storage targets. 'Warmer than normal temperatures are expected by the end of the week, which should dent gas demand,' DNB Markets DNB -0.64%decrease; red down pointing triangle analysts say. Meanwhile, imports of LNG should continue to be high in the coming weeks. 'It is very much needed for Europe to get through the heating season and rebuild inventories into next year,' they say. EU storage levels are only 42.6% full, according to data from Gas Infrastructure Europe, but the European Commission is reportedly set to work with member states to allow for more flexible refilling requirements. The benchmark Dutch TTF contract trades 0.6% lower at 47.96 euros a megawatt hour. (

Europe's Gas Edges Lower After Monday's Rally
0956 GMT – European natural-gas prices edge lower in early trade following the previous session's rally. The benchmark Dutch TTF contract is down 1.2% to 57.32 euros a megawatt hour after breaking above 58 euros, the highest level in two years. Colder temperatures and low wind speeds have boosted gas demand in recent weeks, contributing to a sharp decline in inventories. 'EU gas inventory utilization is currently at 48.5%, and we might drop as low as low-30s by the end of the winter,' analysts at DNB Markets DNB 0.33%increase; green up pointing triangle say. Prices are also driven by a slowdown in global LNG supply growth over the past three months, according to the analysts. However, as gas prices rise, some emerging markets in Asia are experiencing lower demand, leaving more LNG available for Europe. (
