Mudflow renders road in La Castellana, Negros Occ impassable
Mudflow along the highway of Sitio Tamburong, Barangay Biak-na-Bato, La Castellana town in the Province of Negros Occidental due to heavy rainfall rendered the road impassable on Saturday, May 24, 2025. "Motorists are advised to take alternative routes and avoid the affected area. Residents, particularly those living near waterways and low-lying areas, are strongly urged to exercise heightened caution and remain vigilant for possible further flooding or lahar flows. Public safety remains a top priority," the Office of Civil Defense Western Visayas advised. Kanlaon Volcano remains on Alert Level 3 for intensified unrest or magmatic unrest, according to DOST-PHIVOLCS.

Magnitude 4.2 quake jolts Pintuyan, Southern Leyte
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake rocked Pintuyan town in the Province of Southern Leyte. Based on Earthquake Information No.1 issued by DOST-PHIVOLCS, the earthquake struck at 1:36 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025. The earthquake was located 09.91°N, 125.22°E - 004 km S 40° W of Pintuyan, Southern Leyte, at a depth of 10 kilometers, and is tectonic in origin. "No damages expected, no aftershocks expected," the PHIVOLCS advisory reads. Reported Intensities: Instrumental Intensities: Intensity IV - San Francisco, Southern Leyte Intensity II - Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte Intensity I - Hilongos, Leyte; Malitbog and San Juan, Southern Leyte
