Mystery surrounds Des Plaines cold case investigation

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WGN) — For three days, a cold case investigation has unfolded at a home in northwest suburban Des Plaines, but many questions still remain unanswered behind the purpose of police's investigation. The Des Plaines Police Department (DPPD) confirmed Wednesday afternoon that investigators arrived Monday morning at a house in the 100 block of North Warrington Road, but DPPD declined to share any other details in relation to the investigation. When WGN News arrived Wednesday, evidence markers labeled '4-28-2025' were left on the doors of the house. The activity has sparked significant interest from those who live close by, leading to rumors on what could be going on. 'Just that there's a body in the backyard or in the garage. Hopefully, that's not the case, but that's the word on the street,' said Jeanette Sedano, who lives in the area. 'If you go on the Internet, you can see where they have the tent up and they're digging.' Late Wednesday morning, DPPD put out a press release that said they, along with the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT), were conducting a follow-up investigation at the same address, 'stemming from an old case,' and 'Contrary to some reports, investigators are not searching for a body at this residence.' On Tuesday, SkyCam 9 flew over the residence, where police could be seen sifting through dirt in the backyard of the house with a tent, tarps, buckets and several other tools set up to aid in their investigation. No other information is available at this time and DPPD said there's no threat to the public, but more information will be released once police reach a point where they believe it won't jeopardize the investigation. Records reveal Tiffany Henyard's taxpayer-funded positions paid $347,000 last year The address of the house is also the listed home address of Raymond Marshall. In November 2023, Marshall was charged with armed robbery and attempted kidnapping after allegedly trying to rob and kidnap a 35-year-old man in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood. He was one of three suspects involved in the armed robbery. However, it remains unclear if Marshall has any connection to the investigation playing out at the same address. It also remains unclear if the investigation is connected to a cold case from the local, state or national level. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
