DPS Resources — Invest Energy Ventures to power AI data centre in Melaka with green energy

DPS Resources Bhd has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Invest Energy Ventures Sdn Bhd (IEVSB) to jointly develop green energy solar farms and sustainable infrastructure for its proposed AI data centre and high-tech industrial park in Mukim Lendu, Alor Gajah, Melaka. The partnership, via DPS's wholly owned subsidiary DPS Energy Sdn Bhd, will see IEVSB — a subsidiary of Invest Energy Sdn Bhd — finance, develop and implement decentralised independent power utility (IPU) systems, centralised district cooling (CDC) solutions and steam distribution systems for the project. These components will form a centralised utility facility (CUF) to supply sustainable power, cooling and steam services to the upcoming AI data centre and its surrounding industrial park. 'This partnership with Invest Energy Ventures marks a pivotal step in aligning technological advancement with environmental stewardship,' said DPS Resources executive chairman Tan Sri (Dr) Sow Chin Chuan. 'By powering our AI data centre with solar energy, we are advancing Malaysia's digital economy and setting a benchmark for sustainable industrial development. This initiative reflects our dedication to ESG principles and long-term value creation for stakeholders,' he said. The project also supports Malaysia's renewable energy ambitions, contributing toward the national goal of achieving 12.04 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2028. DPS said the initiative is expected to spur economic growth in Melaka by creating jobs and attracting tech-focused investments. DPS added that it will continue to engage with potential operators and off-takers to ensure the project delivers world-class sustainable infrastructure while positioning Melaka as a regional hub for innovation and energy efficiency. — TMR
