Dubai police claimed the model's injuries came from her entering "a restricted construction site" and falling from a height - though there is no evidence backing this up. But now, a source close to the model has insisted that Maria was abused by unidentified Russians in the UAE - not local citizens. The source also denied multiple reports that Maria had left Dubai and was recovering in Ukraine. They said: 'We are in Dubai. And it was Russian citizens who tortured Maria. 'UAE citizens have nothing to do with it. That's all I can say for now.' Maria is said to be 'getting better' but remains under treatment for her horrific ordeal.
