Gerik crash: Tearful farewell as Nik Amni is laid to rest in Kampung Raja
BESUT: Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) student Nik Amni Nadiah Nik Nor Zabir, 21, who died in a bus crash near Tasik Banding, Gerik, was laid to rest at Kampung Raja Islamic cemetery early this morning. The body of the youngest of three siblings from Kampung Paya Rawa arrived at Hadhari mosque at 3am, accompanied by 12 hearses from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, Perak. Four buses carrying 160 university students also escorted the convoy of hearses as a final tribute. The funeral prayers for the 13 accident victims were led by Terengganu State Committee on Information, Da'wah and Shariah Empowerment chairman Dr Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi. More than 3,000 congregants, including family, relatives, friends, and local residents, participated in the prayers. After the prayers, the body was taken directly to the cemetery for burial. Meanwhile, a sorrowful atmosphere enveloped the family, relatives, and friends who attended the burial ceremony. A representative from UPSI, Faculty of Human Sciences lecturer Muhammad Nadzir Ibrahim, also attended the burial. Muhammad Nadzir said Nik Amni's passing was deeply felt by the UPSI community because she was well-known among them. "I teach a different major, but I knew her very well because she was a firm, friendly, and well-liked student. "She was a bright student, a dean's list recipient, and very active," he said. Earlier, the bodies of two other accident victims, Muhammad Adib Hazim Halim, 21, and Wan Nur Suhaila Wan Muhammad, 21, arrived at the mosque grounds at 10.45pm. Muhammad Adib's body was prayed over at the mosque before being taken to his family's hometown in Kampung Pasir Badak, Hulu Besut, for burial. Wan Nur Suhaila's body, from Kampung Amir, was taken directly to her family home for prayers at the village mosque before being buried in the village's Islamic cemetery.

Gerik crash: Final farewell for 13 UPSI students in Jertih
BESUT: A sorrowful and emotional atmosphere greeted the convoy carrying the remains of 13 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students as it arrived at Hadhari mosque in Jertih, this morning. The convoy of vans, transporting the bodies from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, Perak, reached the mosque grounds at 2.55am today, with funeral prayers (solat jenazah) concluding at 3.15am. The public began gathering as early as 12am, awaiting the convoy's arrival from Ipoh, Perak. More than 3,000 people performed the prayers, led by Terengganu State Committee on Information, Da'wah and Shariah Empowerment chairman Dr Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi. Several family members were visibly overcome with emotion as they watched their loved ones being carried into the mosque. All the remains were buried in their respective villages this morning. Many residents came to pay their last respects to the victims of the crash, expressing shock at the tragedy that befell them. Earlier, the remains of two students were laid to rest — Muhammad Adib Hazim Halim, 21, at Kampung Pasir Badak Islamic cemetery in Hulu Besut, and Wan Nur Suhaila Wan Muhammad, 22, at Kampung Amir Islamic cemetery in Kampung Raja, Besut.
