Twins outfielder Matt Wallner reinstated from injured list ahead of game against Mariners
SEATTLE (AP) — Minnesota Twins outfielder Matt Wallner was reinstated from the 10-day injured list on Saturday ahead of his team's game against the Seattle Mariners. Wallner, who was out with a left hamstring strain, will bat fifth and play right field, the team said. Advertisement To make room for him, the Twins optioned outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Triple-A St. Paul. Wallner, 27, missed the Twins' last 38 games. He has hit .263 with five doubles, two triples, one home run, three RBIs, nine walks and seven runs across 18 games this season. DaShawn Keirsey Jr. comes through as Twins edge Giants in 10
May 11 - DaShawn Keirsey Jr. lined a game-winning single down the left-field line to lift the Minnesota Twins to a 7-6 win over the San Francisco Giants in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis. Teammates mobbed Keirsey Jr. after the hit, which gave Minnesota its eighth win in a row. Brooks Lee finished 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Heliot Ramos went 2-for-2 with a homer and four RBIs to lead San Francisco, which was swept in the three-game series. Jung Hoo Lee and David Villar drove in one run apiece. Twins right-hander Jhoan Duran (1-0) got the win after allowing one unearned run in the top of the 10th. Giants right-hander Ryan Walker (1-2) gave up two runs (one earned) in two-thirds of an inning. Keirsey Jr. capped a comeback bottom of the 10th for the Twins. Ryan Jeffers evened the score at 6 with an RBI groundout, and Keirsey Jr. delivered three batters later with the winning hit that scored Brooks Lee from third. Villar gave the Giants a 6-5 lead in the top of the 10th with an RBI groundout. The Giants opened the scoring in the top of the first. Mike Yastrzemski hit a leadoff single, advanced to third on a single by Jung Hoo Lee and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramos. Ramos struck again in the top of the fourth when he ripped a two-run homer to right-center field to put the Giants on top 3-0. It marked the seventh homer of the season and the second in as many games for Ramos. The Twins cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth. After Trevor Larnach reached on an infield single, Brooks Lee belted a two-run homer to right-center field. Jung Hoo Lee increased the Giants' lead to 4-2 in the fifth. He hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Yastrzemski, who singled, stole second and advanced to third on a balk. Byron Buxton hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth to bring the Twins within 4-3. One inning later, Minnesota scored twice to go ahead 5-4. Royce Lewis hit an RBI single to center, and Harrison Bader grounded into an RBI fielder's choice to third.
