Veteran screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar recently delivered a session on Urdu at the British Parliament. On Tuesday, his wife, Shabana Azmi, took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture in which the couple was seen posing in front of the British Parliament. In the caption of her post, she wrote, 'At the British parliament where # Javed Akhtar had a session on #Urdu at the #House Of Lords." Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi have been in London for the last few days. Previously, Azmi also shared a sweet father-son moment between Javed Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar. She posted a candid photo of the two sitting at a small ice cream parlour. 'Father and son enjoying ice-cream at a tiny ice-cream parlour. All indulgences allowed on holidays," she wrote. Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar have been married for over 40 years now. They tied the knot in 1984. Prior to Shabana, Javed was married to screenwriter Honey Irani. He has two children from her – actor, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. In one of her previous interviews, Shabana shared if her definition of love and equation with Javed has changed in these 40 years. The veteran actress mentioned that she was 'never romantic' and added that her relationship with Javed has evolved into friendship in this time. 'I was never a romantic, to begin with. I find that young girls, maybe today it has changed today, but young girls during my era had great ideas about romance. It would be fed on the fairytales, storybooks, and all the little cartoon books they would read. But I was never like that because I saw my parents' marriage, which started with a lot of romance and then evolved into friendship. So what I have valued greatly is friendship," Shabana told Filmfare. Meanwhile, on the work front, Shabana Azmi was recently seen in the web series Dabba Cartel. Released in February 2025, the show also stars Anjali Anand, Shalini Pandey and Jyothika in key roles. It is currently streaming on Netflix. The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM)'s official nominations for the 2025 edition are out. The event celebrates the best in Indian cinema and streaming content. Now in its 16th year, IFFM is seen as one of the largest celebrations of Indian film outside India. IFFM Awards Night is set for August 15 where they will be honouring cinematic excellence across film and OTT categories. The films and shows that were launched between June 15, 2024 to June 14, 2025 will be honoured this year.
