Two arrested, accused of stealing vehicle during delivery in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two men were arrested after reportedly stealing a vehicle during a food delivery in Baton Rouge.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, on Feb. 3, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 500 block of Lee Drive in response to a stolen vehicle.
On Feb. 5, officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle in the 8000 block of Scenic Highway. Two occupants of the vehicle fled from the officers and were later caught after a short chase on foot. The suspects were identified as 23-year-old Dacquan Whitson and 22-year-old Desmond Wilson.
Inside the vehicle, officers discovered over 230 grams of marijuana, two handguns and a digital scale, according to the police.
Wilson was arrested and booked on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule I drug, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, illegal carrying of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Whitson was arrested on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule I drug, illegal carrying of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, firearm free zone, resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. Whitson was reported as a fugitive by the Zachary Police Department.
