Govt to provide Ramadan gifts to Muslims: MLA
Anantapur: Anantapur Urban MLA Daggupati Prasad announced that starting from the upcoming Ramadan, the government will distribute Ramadan gifts to Muslim families. He inaugurated the newly constructed mosque and shopping complex in Ashok Nagar, built at a cost of ₹65 lakh, along with Government Whip Kalava Srinivasulu. The event began with special prayers at the mosque. Speaking at the inauguration, MLA Daggupati Prasad said that seven months ago, he personally performed the groundbreaking ceremony for this mosque, and now he is delighted to preside over its inauguration. He expressed his fortune in conducting special prayers in the presence of many religious leaders and mutawallis. He also highlighted various government initiatives under the NDA, including support for Haj pilgrimages, the Dulhan scheme, and aid for marriage halls. The MLA mentioned that the city has a total of 125 mosques, and he pledged to assist in securing funds for any repairs or basic amenities required. He also informed that a compound wall and street lighting have been constructed at the Kabristan with an investment of ₹1 crore. He assured the Muslim community that he will stand with them in addressing any issues they face. Government Whip Kalava Srinivasulu, present at the event, praised the government's dedication to the welfare and safety of the Muslim minority, stating that Andhra Pradesh is a role model for other states in this regard. The program, organised under the leadership of Shaqeel Shafi, saw participation from mutawallis, religious leaders, and Muslims from various states.

MLA vows strict action on past civic graft
Anantapur: Anantapur MLA Daggupati Prasad made strong remarks against corruption during the previous government, stating that no one involved in irregularities in the Municipal Corporation will be spared. Speaking at the launch event of new Swachh vehicles worth Rs. 2.05 cr, alongside MP Ambika, the MLA said that the current alliance government has shown visible development in just 11 months of rule. He accused the former MLA and Mayor of misappropriating Rs. 22 cr in the dumping yard project, adding that Rs 9 cr of the corruption has already been proven, with full details to be revealed soon. He stressed that strict legal action would be taken against all those involved. Drawing a parallel with Kadapa, Daggupati noted that even a Mayor was removed when similar corruption was uncovered and assured similar accountability in their municipality.

Urban MLA starts drainage works in Anantapur
Anantapur: Urban MLA Daggupati Prasad criticised that only foundation stones were laid for development works and no funds were released anywhere during the previous YSRCP government. Funds are coming only after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu came to power and development works are being carried out. The ground-breaking ceremony for CC road and drainages was performed in 13th division here on Wednesday. Deputy Mayor Vasanthi Sahitya, TDP leaders and municipal officials were present. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Daggupati Prasad said that 750 meters of drainages and 170 meters of CC road are being constructed here with Rs 41 lakh, which have been pending for several days. He said the foundation stone for these works was laid in the previous government, but the funds could not be released. He explained that now these works are being done with municipal grants. The MLA said development works worth Rs 30 crore have already been done in Anantapur and they will be completed in the next two months. He said that work worth Rs 30 crore has also been started. He said that these works will be completed by bringing special grand funds. He explained that they have also completed the Rudrampet and 80 feet road works that were pending for a long time. He said that drainage problems are being solved here and there. On the other hand, MLA Dagguppati said that he is moving forward by solving every problem that comes to his attention through 'Mee Inti Vaddake Mee MLA' programme. Commissioner Balaswamy, Deputy Mayor Vasanthi Sahitya, Corporator Laleppa, former Corporator Raja Rao, several corporation directors Dattatreya Temple Committee Chairman, TDP leaders and others were present.
