CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Irish festivities continued this weekend in Hampden County, as the St. Patrick's Parade Committee of Chicopee hosted its Colleen Contest and Coronation Ball.
This event was held on Saturday at the Portuguese American Club in Chicopee, and crowds gathered for this highly anticipated tradition.

The judges narrowed down the participants to five honorees from eleven talented contestants who showcased their skills, all competing for the esteemed title of this year's Chicopee Grand Colleen and her court.
'They will go out and do different events in the community,' said Kathy Sliwa, President of the 2025 Chicopee Parade Committee. 'They'll visit our sponsors, go to the schools, they just get out there and see what it's like to join the community.'
One of the many awards and prizes given out at the contest included a $500 scholarship, courtesy of the Chicopee Parade Committee.
As the contest drew to a close, the judges made their selection. The Chicopee St. Patrick's Parade Committee said that 'Irish eyes were smiling' when the honorees were announced, and that the night was an absolute success.
