Local businesses unite for Central Illinois Veterans Commission
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Two local businesses in Junction City are teaming up to support those who've served.
Junction City Pub and Tavern on Prospect partnered to raise funds for the Central Illinois Veterans Commission, a nonprofit that helps local veterans secure permanent housing.
The fundraiser is part of a series of events hosted by the establishments, combining community fun with charitable giving.
Dakota Rogy, owner of Tavern on Prospect, said the initiative is a meaningful way to give back while creating an enjoyable weekend outing.
'We're doing four-dollar, 360 drinks with $1 going to each charity for each event,' Rogy said. 'Last year, we raised close to $1,000 for each charity through donations. So hopefully we can get close to that for each event this year.'
The next 'Sunday Funday' fundraiser is scheduled for June 22, and proceeds from that event will benefit Tazewell County Animal Control.
