Coppa Italia semi final line-ups: Bologna vs. Empoli
Bologna look to Thijs Dallinga and Riccardo Orsolini in the Coppa Italia semi-final against injury-hit Empoli, hoping to book their showdown with Milan. It kicks off at the Stadio Dall'Ara at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT). Advertisement You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens on the Liveblog. The Rossoblu already have one foot in the Final on May 14 at the Stadio Olimpico, as they won the first leg 3-0 in Tuscany thanks to Orsolini and a Dallinga double. They are coming off a spectacular 1-0 Serie A victory over Inter, decided by the last-gasp Orsolini scissor-kick volley, which saw them leapfrog Juventus into fourth place. Emil Holm has been ruled out by a muscular issue to his left calf, joining Lukasz Skorupski, Lewis Ferguson and Nicolò Casale on the treatment table. Orsolini steps into the starting XI with Dallinga, as Santiago Castro is still not at 100 per cent after a foot bruise on international duty. That form was really not reflected in Serie A, where they are without a win in 2025 and at real risk of relegation, although there have been improvements lately thanks to draws with Como, Cagliari and Venezia. The absentee list remains extensive, including Youssef Maleh, Christian Kouame, Ardian Ismajli, Nicolas Haas, Pietro Pellegri and Szymon Zurkowski. Ola Solbakken leads the attack with support from Ibrahim Konate and Viktor Kovalenko, while veteran Mattia De Sciglio starts in a three-man defence. European football: Bielefeld stun Leverkusen to reach DFB-Pokal final
Third-tier Arminia Bielefeld stunned the DFB-Pokal holders, Bayer Leverkusen, 2-1 on Tuesday, coming from a goal down to reach the final. Bielefeld, who have eliminated four Bundesliga teams in consecutive rounds in the competition, became the fourth third-tier side to reach the final. 'I am so proud of the team,' said the Bielefeld coach, Michél Kniat. 'The whole region is feeling this. No one will be sleeping tonight. We defended with a lot of passion and that was the key. We worked extremely hard.' Leverkusen, who had never lost a DFB-Pokal match under Xabi Alonso, were made to work hard before taking the lead in the 17th minute with Jonathan Tah's tap-in at the far post from a corner. Their joy only lasted three minutes with Marius Wörl beating goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky with a low drive to draw the home side level. Hradecky pulled off a spectacular save when he blocked Sarenren Bazee's point-blank effort but Bielefeld's comeback was complete on the stroke of half-time with a close-range volley from Maximilian Grosser. The hosts were relentless, keeping up the pressure and carving out several chances after the break before Leverkusen's Patrik Schick hit the post with an 81st-minute header. 'We were missing all our usual strengths,' said the Leverkusen midfielder Robert Andrich. 'We could not have an impact up front and we made far too many mistakes at the back. It was clearly our worst game this season. We have to accept that we messed it up.' Stuttgart face RB Leipzig on Wednesday in the other semi-final. Paris Saint-Germain recovered from a two-goal deficit to beat second-tier Dunkerque 4-2 and secure their place in the Coupe de France final as they chase a record-extending 16th title. Dunkerque, making their first ever semi-final appearance, took the lead when Vincent Sasso tapped home a flicked ball from Alec Georgen. Muhannad Yahya al-Saad then fired home a low volley, catching the PSG backline off guard, to extend the hosts' advantage. PSG's top scorer, Ousmane Dembélé, pulled one back just before half-time, with a powerful shot after Achraf Hakimi's pass, while Marquinhos equalised three minutes after the restart by heading home Dembélé's cross at the far post. Désiré Doué put the visitors ahead when his shot took a deflection before finding the net, before Dembélé sealed PSG's comeback in stoppage time by scoring his 32nd goal in all competitions this season. Dallinga double fires Bologna to 3-0 Cup win at Empoli
EMPOLI, Italy, April 1 (Reuters) - A Thijs Dallinga double helped Bologna to a 3-0 win at Empoli in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie on Tuesday, as the visitors remained on course to end their over 50-year wait to lift the trophy. Empoli knocked out Juventus after a penalty shootout to reach their first ever semi-final, but this time the contrasting league form of both sides showed, as the relegation threatened hosts were outclassed by Champions League chasing Bologna. Bologna took the lead in the 23rd minute when Jens Odgaard crossed from the left and while Dallinga attracted the attention of two defenders, the ball fell kindly to the unmarked Riccardo Orsolini who drove his first-time shot into the net. The visitors doubled their advantage six minutes later with Dallinga tucking away a perfect throughball from Dan Ndoye and six minutes after the interval the pair combined again with Dallinga sliding in to finish off Ndoye's pass across goal. Bologna, twice winners, last lifted the Coppa Italia in 1974, and after this emphatic win their fans will already be booking their trips to Rome for the final in May. Empoli have a mountain to climb in the second leg in Bologna on April 24, and the winner will meet either AC Milan or Inter Milan, who play their semi-final first leg on Wednesday, in the final at the Stadio Olimpico.

Bologna nears its first Italian Cup final since 1974 with 3-0 win over Empoli
ROME (AP) — Bologna took a big step toward reaching the Italian Cup final with a 3-0 win at Empoli in the first leg of the semifinals on Tuesday. Dutch center forward Thijs Dallinga netted twice after Riccardo Orsolini opened the scoring for Bologna, which is attempting to reach the final for the first time since winning its second Italian Cup in 1974. AC Milan and Inter Milan meet in a derby in the other semifinal on Wednesday, with the return legs scheduled for April 23-24. Bologna went ahead in the 23rd when Orsolini redirected in a cross from Jens Odgaard. Italy coach Luciano Spalletti was in the stands and will have been impressed by Orsolini, who also scored in Bologna's last two Serie A matches. Six minutes later, Dallinga slipped between two defenders to double the advantage with the outside of his left foot after taking a pass from Dan Ndoye. Ndoye again provided the assist when Dallinga finished off a counterattack after the break. Bologna extended its winning streak to six matches across all competitions. The Italian Cup winner is given a Europa League spot, although Bologna is in fourth place in Serie A and on course to qualify for the Champions League for a second straight season. Empoli, which is third from the bottom in the league and in danger of relegation, eliminated Juventus in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals to reach the semifinals for the first time. ___
