Lavazza Studying Combination With Dallmayr, Corriere Says
Luigi Lavazza SpA is studying a tie-up with Germany's Dallmayr as the coffee industry remains under pressure due to surging prices, Corriere della Sera reported on Saturday, without saying where it obtained the information.
The Italian coffee roaster hired Goldman Sachs to help with the negotiation, which is in a preliminary phase and may not reach an agreement, according to the newspaper. The merger could entail an exchange of shares in which Lavazza would be getting a majority stake in the combined group, Corriere said.
