17-yr-old shot dead over petty row in city

Patna: A 17-year-old boy was shot dead in broad daylight in the Gola Road locality under Danapur police station on Friday. The youth was riding pillion with friends on a motorcycle when he was called out near a bend close to his home. He dismounted and walked towards the person while his friends remained on the vehicle. What began as a heated exchange quickly turned violent when the assailant pulled out a pistol and shot the victim in the neck and face. The boy collapsed on the spot as the shooter fled on foot. His friends rushed him to Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Police later said the assailant, a juvenile from the same locality, had been detained. The deceased was identified as Shrawan Kumar, son of Santosh Kumar, and a resident of Trimurti Nagar on Gola Road. Upon receiving the report, senior police officers including City SP (west) Sarath R S, Danapur ASP Bhanu Pratap Singh and Danapur SHO Prashant Kumar Bharadwaj visited the spot. They had a heated argument after which the accused shot Shrawan," said SHO Prashant Kumar Bharadwaj. Police recovered two shell casings and reviewed CCTV footage from the area. Forensic teams and a dog squad also collected evidence from the site. The shooter was identified through the footage. "Around a month ago, the accused had a fight with Shrawan's younger brother. Shrawan took the side of his brother and assaulted him. The accused admitted that Shrawan was shot to take revenge for the fight that occurred a month ago.
