These NFL teams had the youngest and oldest draft classes in 2025 NFL Draft

These NFL teams had the youngest and oldest draft classes in 2025 NFL Draft How old were the draft classes for the 32 teams in the 2025 NFL Draft? The six youngest draft classes are all at 22 or younger as an average age. That includes a three-way tie between the Falcons, Jets and Vikings at exactly 22 years. Notably in that top grouping, the Vikings and Cleveland Browns front offices are known for having age guardrails on their picks. At the other end of the spectrum, the Broncos, Commanders and Chargers all have average ages of 23 or older. The Raiders and Lions round of round out the five oldest draft classes. It might not seem like a huge range between the Dolphins (21.5 years) and the Broncos (23.14) but across just a handful of draft picks, that's a decent spread. It's also representative of a younger class on the whole; the average draftee in 2024 was older (23.2) than the Broncos' average age as the oldest class in 2025 thanks to the COVID-19 extended eligibility. The 2025 class represents the last of the players who gained an extra year of eligibility from the pandemic. The chart from Daniel Griffis on X:

Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 rookie class among youngest in NFL

Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 rookie class among youngest in NFL The Kansas City Chiefs' front office has an excellent track record of finding undervalued talent from the college ranks and may have assembled their best rookie class in years during the 2025 NFL draft. While it remains to be seen how Kansas City's rookies will fare next season, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach set his team up for success by making savvy selections on all three days of the draft last week. According to Sports Data Analyst Daniel Griffis of Action News Jax, Kansas City's 2025 rookie class is among the youngest in the NFL, with an average age of 22.14 years old. Age isn't necessarily an indicator of value or future success, but it may prove to be advantageous for the Chiefs to select younger prospects, given that Kansas City's coaching staff generally tends to keep rookies on the sidelines in favor of veteran talent. With their talented crop of first-year players, the Chiefs are fully reloaded for an attempt to secure a spot in Super Bowl LX.

Where Bengals' age of draft class ranked vs. rest of NFL

Where Bengals' age of draft class ranked vs. rest of NFL The Cincinnati Bengals didn't shy away from older prospects in the 2025 NFL draft. That's something we can view in hindsight compared to the rest of the league. As captured by sports data journalist Daniel Griffis, the Bengals' draft class this year had an average age of 22.50 years old. The number puts the Bengals technically in the bottom half of the league in this category. But it's no great shock, as Zac Taylor's team likes to prioritize team captains from major programs, usually with lots of starting experience, too. Second-round linebacker Demetrius Knight represents the other end of the spectrum, as he's already 24 years old. That caps his alleged upside and raises the average here quite a bit, but the Bengals really wanted an experienced linebacker to fill the Germaine Pratt role. Dolphins' 2025 draft class is the youngest in the NFL

Dolphins' 2025 draft class is the youngest in the NFL The Miami Dolphins had the oldest roster in the NFL last season. Now it's set to get much younger in 2025, especially after the team prioritized youth in the NFL draft. According to Daniel Griffis of Action News Jax, the average age of the Dolphins' eight draft picks was 21.5 years old -- the youngest in the NFL. Four of the Dolphins' draft picks -- Kenneth Grant, Jonah Savaiinaea, Jordan Phillips, and Ollie Gordon II -- played only three years of college football. Seventh-round Zeek Biggers played four years at Georgia Tech, but played his first game with the Yellow Jackets while he was still 17. The oldest player in the draft class, cornerback Jason Marshall Jr., will turn 23 in September. Rule changes in college football that have allowed players to transfer often, along with the effects of COVID-19, meant that there were many NFL draft prospects who are older than usual. New Orleans Saints second-round pick Tyler Shough, who will turn 26 early in his rookie year, began his collegiate career in 2018 as backup to Justin Herbert at Oregon. In addition to the eight youthful draft picks added to the roster, the Dolphins also said goodbye to many of their oldest players. Defensive lineman Calais Campbell, who turns 39 in September, joined the Arizona Cardinals in free agency, 34-year-old safety Jordan Poyer is a free agent, 33-year-old offensive tackle Terron Armstead retired last month, and 33-year-old running back Raheem Mostert was released. The oldest player remaining is 31-year-old Tyreek Hill, who is one of only four players on the roster no longer in his 20s. That includes 30-year-old cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is seemingly set to leave the team soon.
