Alleged member of Cuba's Ministry of the Interior arrested by ICE agents in Miami
A man has been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents for being an alleged agent of Cuba's Ministry of the Interior and being in the U.S. illegally. According to a news release from ICE, Daniel Morejon Garcia, a 57-year-old Cuban national, was arrested at his home in Miami and taken into custody by ICE, the FBI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Officials said the investigation centered on fraudulent claims he allegedly made when entering the country. During the investigation, officials said law enforcement agents obtained official Cuban government documents and "credible source information" indicating that Morejon Garcia had failed to disclose his affiliations. Additionally, officials said the investigation revealed that Morejon Garcia allegedly served as the President of the National Defense Council in the Artemisa region of Cuba and was a member of the Rapid Response Brigades. "These groups, composed of civilians trained and organized by the government, are designed to assist authorities during incidents of social unrest, protests, or disturbances," the statement from ICE read. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla., shared the letter, which included a list of Cubans residing in the U.S. under various humanitarian laws or programs that he and/or pro-Cuban-democracy groups attest are actually tied directly to the communist regime in Havana, with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. In the letter, obtained by Fox News Digital, Gimenez shared with Noem about the "presence of agents of the murderous Castro regime and the Communist Party of Cuba currently residing in the United States." ICE arrests alleged member of Cuba's Ministry of the Interior in South Florida
A man from Cuba who was allegedly a member of the Cuban Communist Party and a member of the Ministry of the Interior was taken into custody in Miami, immigration authorities announced Monday. Daniel Morejon Garcia, 57, was 'administratively arrested' after an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, which 'centered on fraudulent claims he allegedly made when entering the country,' U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a news release. HSI Miami shared photos on X Monday afternoon that showed Morejon Garcia handcuffed and placed in the back of a van. He has been processed and remains in ICE custody, the news release said. In his immigration applications, Morejon Garcia allegedly omitted being a member of the Cuban Communist Party and his affiliation with the Ministry of Interior, according to ICE. Law enforcement during their investigation reviewed 'official Cuban government documents' and received 'credible source information' that Morejon Garcia did not disclose the affiliations. He is accused of serving as the President of the National Defense Council in the Atermisa region and as a member of the Rapid Response Brigades, according to ICE, groups made up of 'civilians trained and organized by the government' that are intended to aid authorities during protests and social unrest. In July 2021, thousands of Cubans gathered across the island in the largest protests the country had seen in decades. The protests included acts of vandalism, destruction of patrol cars, looting and police violently arresting protesters, the Associated Press reported at the time. Morejon Garcia as a member of the Rapid Response Brigades was 'activated' by the government and allegedly assaulted protesters during the 2021 protest, according to ICE.

Alleged agent of Cuba's interior ministry taken into custody in Miami, ICE says
An agent of Cuba's Ministry of the Interior was taken into custody in South Florida by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for reportedly being in the U.S. unlawfully. Daniel Morejon Garcia, 57, was taken into custody at his residence following an investigation conducted by ICE Homeland Security Investigations. According to federal authorities, the investigation centered on fraudulent claims he reportedly made when entering the country. Specifically, he allegedly omitted being a member of the Cuban Communist Party and an agent of Cuba's Ministry of the Interior in his immigration applications.
