ING Struggles to Compete With Tech Firms for Talent, CTO Says
ING Groep NV is facing an uphill battle to hire IT staff as tech companies out-pay the Dutch lender, according to one of its top executives.
The compensation levels at tech firms are 'significantly higher' than at ING, Chief Technology Officer Daniele Tonella said in an interview in Amsterdam. The long-term incentives including share plans that some of those companies offer also place 'golden handcuffs' on their staff, making it effectively impossible for ING to poach, he said.
