Central Kentucky school district among 3 statewide chosen for national nonprofit education program
WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — District leaders said they were thrilled on Friday to announce that Woodford County Public Schools (WCPS) was one of three districts in Kentucky chosen for a national partnership focused on enhancing education. 'What an honor it is for Woodford County to be invited to participate in this amazing opportunity to partner with the Aurora Institute!' Superintendent Danny Adkins said. 'We are excited to share our work as well as learn and grow through the partnership. We are fully committed to taking this opportunity to bring more and greater opportunities to the students of Woodford County!' Woodford County schools superintendent looks back on his time serving as he prepares for retirement
VERSAILLES, Ky. (FOX 56) — As he prepares for retirement, Woodford County Schools Superintendent Danny Adkins is looking back on his time serving district staff and students. For 30 years, Adkins has been serving in public education, with the last of those being superintendent of the Woodford County Schools. Adkins said he's made countless memories in this role over the years, and he'll always treasure them. Adkins was named the 2025 superintendent of the year by the Kentucky Educational Development Cooperative and was given the Excellence in Leadership Award from the Association of Professional Educators, just to name a few. He said he'll always look back on the chance to watch this district grow, especially with huge strides like the new Woodford County High School, and being involved in the lives of the students he serves. 'My ask or my request of the new superintendent would be to support the kids. They love seeing you there. I feel like they've really enjoyed that. We've had a really good social media presence, I think, with the kids, and they enjoy that when they see me come and they, they ask for selfies and those types of things,' Adkins said.
