The 58-year-old has passed following a cancer battle, a statement has confirmed. A well-loved Disney publicist has passed away after an eight month battle with cancer. The death of 58-year-old entertainment publicist Danny Duran was confirmed in a touching social media post. He reportedly passed away on Wednesday, June 4. The statement shared on Facebook by City of Signal Hill council member Keir Jones read: "We lost a truly special soul last night—Danny Duran passed away in Los Angeles, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and brilliance that touched so many lives. ‌ "Danny was not only a beloved husband and friend—he was a powerhouse in the world of publicity, the founder of ddPR, and a trusted voice behind major studios like Disney, Lionsgate, and Universal. ‌ "His career spanned decades, including work on iconic films like The Lion King, Evita, The Rock, and Con Air, and representing clients with a quiet confidence and undeniable grace." The statement continued: "Danny's passing is a profound loss to all who knew him, but the love he gave—to Blaine (his husband), to his friends, to his work—remains a lasting gift. "Rest in peace, Danny. You were light in every room you entered, and your spirit will live on in all of us who had the privilege to know you." In 2000, Danny founded ddPR, launching the firm with Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment as a client. He helped the division transition from VHS to DVD and then Blu-ray, where he supported the release of titles including 'The Lion King,' 'Snow White' and 'The Little Mermaid.' He handled personal publicity for Jon Hamm, Beth Grant, as well as other actors, and was heavily valued for his personal approach to work, reported The Mirror. ‌ Beth Grant was among those paying tribute to Danny. Beth, who starred on shows such as The Mindy Project, wrote: "Danny was a lovely, special friend for over 20 years. ‌ "He helped me navigate the public relations in Hollywood in the most wonderfully kind and understated ways. "I'll always remember the sparkle in his eyes and his sweet smile. "I'm so saddened by this loss, not just for me, but for our community. My husband, Michael Chieffo, joins me in gratitude for the happy memories we shared with Danny. ‌ "We shall love him always." Executive VP of Content Strategy and Integration Marketing, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, Amelia McPartlon Rogers also said: "Danny was a tireless champion — for his clients, the causes he believed in, and the friends, family and colleagues fortunate enough to be in his orbit. "His belief in me early in my career helped lay the foundation for my future, and I will be forever grateful for his encouragement and loving friendship."
