LSU baseball trounces Xavier in final game before conference play
LSU baseball put on a hit parade Tuesday night as the Tigers scored a season-high 18 runs and trounced Xavier 18-4.
LSU put up seven runs in the bottom of the first thanks to a Jared Jones two-run shot, a Danny Dickinson homer, a Jake Brown RBI single, a Chris Stanfield RBI single, and a Derek Curiel RBI double to give LSU a 7-0 lead.
William Schmidt got the start of the mound, but he only pitched one inning.
After getting such a huge lead, LSU decided to call Jaden Noot out of the bullpen. In the bottom of the second inning, LSU tacked on three more runs as Brown hit an RBI single and Luis Hernandez hit a two-RBI single. After two innings, LSU was up 10-0.

In the top of the fourth inning, Xavier finally got on the board, scoring two runs against Conner Ware to cut the lead to 17-2. LSU got one of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Michael Braswell III to increase the lead to 18-2.
For the first time in the entire game, LSU was held scoreless in the bottom of the fifth inning. Still, the run rule was on as LSU went to the seventh. Casan Evans entered the game to pitch for LSU. Xavier was able to score two runs on him to make the final score 18-4.
With the win, LSU improves to 17-1 this season. SEC play starts this weekend as the Tigers will welcome Missouri into town for a three-game series that starts Friday at 6:30.
